Dripping Musical Goodness,
By
This review is from: Hi-Fi Stereo (Audio CD)
This is a terrific album. It simply drips musical goodness and I'm hip deep in it right now. There is not one clunker on the whole album and several groovy standards are covered along with one Reverend Horton Heat song. I cannot recommend this CD enough. Get it now....go on! We're waiting!

Reverend Organdrum is a trio made up of Jim Heath on guitar, Tim Alexander on Hammond organ & Todd Soesbe on drums. This band is a blast! Substituting organ for a bass guitarist, this combo pumps out garage rock anthems without any clinkers. The surfer version of "James Bond Theme" puts a special smile on my face. Henry Mancini's "Experiment in Terror" haunts like a twisted intruder from the 1962 film with Lee Remick & Glen Ford. Nelson Riddle's "Theme to Route 66" makes me want to jump in a Corvette & hit the road. "Hang 'Em High" with the organ front & center is such a delight. Of the two vocal numbers on this set, Jim Heath sounds like he's soused on "Ain't That a Kick in the Head," "I've sunshine enough to spread, it's true what the fellow said, tell me quick, ain't that a kick in the head?" "C Jam Blues" by Duke Ellington stretches to meet this band's wild style. Ray Charles' "I Got a Woman" pops with the organ chugging overtime. The Rascles' "Groovin'" is a favorite track with the sunny organ giving a perpetual smile. The set concludes with a cover of Booker T & the MG's "Time Is Tight." Not many (mostly) instrumental CDs (other than jazz) go gold, but Reverend Organdrum provides nonstop fun. I may have to throw a party just so I can play this CD. Bravo!
