Hi-C followers..............come and get it,

I was always online looking to buy a new copy of Skanless, but never found one until recently. I have the cassette, along with Swingin, from when it was originally released and they were always some of my favorite albums. When I saw that C was coming out with a new album, I could hardly wait. So finally it came out, after nearly a decade without an album. And to those who are also waiting for the new cuts, you won't be disappointed. He starts it with a catchy hook in 'Whoop' and takes it all the way through to a just as good 'Get It'. DJ Quik's influence (also one of my favorite artists/producers) is very evident. So much so that after hearing only a couple seconds of some of the songs, you will instantly know that he was directing that particular one. All the songs are done in classic Hi-C style, with my favorite being 'Hoochie-Coochie'. It's got that Bone-Thugs fast rhymin' flow to it that C pulls off flawlessly. Hi-C........it's about time, man. Keep em' comin. It's a shame more people don't know about this guy and how smooth his style is.

This is a sold album, pretty much every song is likeable on this one. Hi-C is a good producer and does the bulk of the tracks and he has help from DJ Quik along the way as well. "Say Woop" has the perfect Crawfdog and Quik feel to it and features Suga Free, great song. "I Don't Wanna Know" featuring Nate Dogg is a classic about whatever his woman does he don't wanna know about it... funny concept and a great beat by Crawf and Rob Bacon with a nice guitar solo to end it. "The Talk" featuring Sly Boogie and E-40 has a vintage 40 verse, good beat and everything, nice chemistry. "Coochie Coochie" has another great Hi-C and Quik beat with hard hitting drums and bass, you know what the song is about, and Diamonique lends a verse with Quik on the hook. "Let Me Know" is the typical sound you'd expect from DJ Quik and was the single used for promotion. Always good to have the talkbox involved and the Quik whistlers, and both of them lay down nice verses to add to it, classic collaboration. "Fo a Buck" has another nice Hi-C beat and he also does a good job with "Pop It" and "Big Girls Need Love Too" and "X Pills".... then Quik rounds it up with some cool beats on "Hit Me Where It Hurts" and "Run Up, Done Up" featuring 2Swift...... one of the best Quik tracks is the finale "Do It", 8 minutes long with a great bassline and an outro with the talkbox that keeps groovin' for a few minutes, Quik showin' that he's one of the best on the box since Roger Troutman..... Overall this is a very solid album, the first from Hi-C in a decade and he is really impressive behind the boards... not to mention the guest spots and the co-producers, if you're a fan of Hi-C and the Quik Camp then it's a must have, you'll listen to this for a long time.

(4.25)Hi-c is from the early 90's and he was down with Quik, Amg, 2nd11None.....Who would think over a decade later he would drop a cd that is actually good. Hi-c makes feel good music, it has comedy in it and good storytellin'. The beats are tight and Hi-c produced most of them but of course DJ Quik has his hand in the production also.Songs like For A Buck, I Don't Wanna Know, Let Me Know, are some of the best on here. I only skip two songs on the album. It's on Rap-a-lot and you know James Prince don't put out to much trash. If u like your music "hood" or serious all the time this is not for you. But if u are well rounded and know how to relax this is for you. Hotep...
