I am so impressed by this camera I can hardly contain myself. It is absolutely loaded with features. The quality of the still shots is unbelievable. You can see every pore on a persons face. The Hi-def Video is breath taking and the color is so vivid it will blow your mind. You do not need the extra kits as the camera comes with all the cables that you need (4) for video transfer as well as still shot transfer I would get some filters if not just to protect the lense and the automatic lense cover from damage. It has more input and output jacks then any other camera. I have Sony HDR-FX1 and this camera is almost the same thing in a palm sized package. Hey look it is not an HDR-FX1 but it does not cost $3000 either. It is small and easy to carry around. You will not be disappointed. The menus are so friendly it will make you cry. There are actual illustrations of the cables and what they hook to. The menus have two modes EASY and ADVANCED. Oh did I forget the touch screen which makes the whole thing fast and easy. On EASY menu, the camera does everything for you. On advanced you can tweak everything to the max. I have only just looked at the night shot with built in infrared but it looks fantastic and I have not even tried the Super Night Shot mode. Built in pop-out flash variable level. Make sure to get an external battery charger such as the Sony BC-TRP and an extra "H" series battery as you will need it but the battery that comes with will last over an hour or more depending on you modes and usage. There are several batteries get the NPFH70 or NPFH100 these are higher capacity. Get them from LEGEND. This camera is so advanced you would swear it used alien technology. It also comes with easy to use basic software that will allow you to burn CDs as well as drivers for other apps like Vegas and Microsoft. I wish I had two more pages to tell you about it. I lugged the HDR-FX1 to Hawaii but not next time this is what is going. I like tape because it is the cheapest mediium and you loose nothing on resolution. If you go hard drive you have to carry a computer or external device to dump. With CD you have compression. If you use the bigger battery the eye piece telescopes out if you need it. One last thing it comes with remote control. It is the Mini HDR-FX1. You got to have some compromises in a package this small. The camera package which I ordered came to me later than I expected but in two weeks which worked out fine. I liked both the Sony HDR-HC7 and the rest of the package I believe I got my money's worth after pricing pieces at my local Best Buy. I'm not crazy about the tripod but it works fine. The Camera is every thing I wanted it dose require some reading of the manual and some trial but you can do as much with this camera as a some of the professional Sony cameras you can record 16x9 or 4x3 at HDV 1080i record on Mini DV cassettes and playback, transfer footage to your computer and edit. There are manual controls which gives you a lot of choices, a built in spot meter, and a 6.1 mega pixel still camera with flash and memory stix, shutter control. Depending on how you would like to shoot there's an easy mode which makes it all automatic if your unsure. The pictures looks terrific and the steady shot works great, for such a small camera it has a lot to offer and it can complement a professional camera package.
