I use this line mainly for drifting for catfish. This line is quite stiff compared to other line that is the same weight. However, I have not had any problem with breakage, but tying knots can be a problem.

Not for casting, but for trolling or live baiting it's the bomb. Don't expect a limp line for spinning reels.

I purchased two packs of Hi-Seas Grand slam several months ago. 8 and 17lb mono. I spooled a Shimano sedona 2500 with the 8lb. Went on nice but seemed a little thick. Took it out fishing for trout. When casting light lures the hi-seas line wouldn't spin off the reel easily. After several casts I looked at the reel to see if I had any problems and found nothing. I continued casting 1/8th,1/4th and 1/2 ounce jigs. casts were all very short and again it came off the reel like a 20lb. Seems this line will only work with heavier weights like are used in bait casting. The 17lb may work out but the 8lb doesn't with small spinners. Never again!

I put this stuff on two of my conventional reels and did a fishing trip last week. This line delaminated when it rubbed against anything. I had a fish on the hook that went under the boat and where the line came in contact with the boat the line had shavings attached to it. When I pulled on the shavings they eventually peeled off the line. Usually in this situation I can feel a rough surface where the line rubs against something but I have never seen this delamination/peeling. I may have just received a bad batch but I won't be using any of it to fish with. I have not contacted the seller yet.

I bought the fluorescent yellow 40lb line. It's hard to picture how much line this has until you have it in hand. Almost 3000 yards!

It filled 3 of my TLD25 Shimano reels and still has around half of it left.

It is a bit stiffer than some higher costing lines, but I have had no issues with breakage, as I did with Berkeley. Also, they Yellow color is easy to spot, and therefore helps me to avoid tangling my line in others while fishing.

I would recommend this for spinning reels, as it is too stiff and to thick in Diameter, but for conventional reels, it sure meets my expectations.

My only CON would be that the outer layer of the line on the roll was a bit damaged, even though it had protective plastic wrapping. Don't know why, might have been due to poor handling during shipping. I removed the top layer and threw it away. And since I spool my reels manually, I let it slide through my fingers and could feel no damage on the 550-600 yards of line I put on my reels.

Happy fishing

Have landed some really nice fish and i can see the line when I could see the clear. I always use a leader so fish aren't bothered by the color. Found no faults.

I bought 50# yellow to use on penn fathom 25lw not sure how much line I can get on the reel but after a 50 yd cast I'm down to the first line mark probably about 180yrs total. Line cast well for the size with a bottom dwellers takedown rod and about 6oz weight.I tied the line to a5gal bucket a hung it up filled the bucket with water and it didn't break about 40# but it did stretch about afoot in 4 ft but that a lot of weight on the line.I am 67 and I can see the line a long ways and it's easier for me to tie due to the larger size and the knots don't break.scraping the line over a brick wears it pretty quickly but over smooth aluminum no problem. Haven't fished with this line yet but from what I see I think I will be happy catfish won't
