4.0 out of 5 stars 10 month review
Well I've had these for 10 months and worn them for an average of 13-1/2 hours a day, 7 days a week, in temps ranging from freezing to about 125. (I'm in Afghanistan) These are my only shoes, The only surfaces these shoes have touched are gravel pavement and dirt. Well I've had these for 10 months and worn them for an average of 13-1/2 hours a day, 7 days a week, in temps ranging from freezing to about 125. (I'm in Afghanistan) These are my only shoes, The only surfaces these shoes have touched are gravel pavement and dirt. I've been very happy at how these shoes wear, breaking in was just getting them to relax a bit. Soles are at 10 months to the point where the tread lugs are wearing down to gone. The inner seam from the 1-2 eyelet to the arch fell apart after 8-9 months and now acts as an air duct. The spongy inner sole seems to last forever. All in all I like these, they're comfortable yet sturdy. I was also happy with the quality of the leather which is probably still at 95%. I was hoping they'd last a year, but in these conditions I doubt they will for me, as I wear them about 94 hours a week. I'm sure you'll get better results.

This shoe is very comfortable with no break in, fits true to size and waterproof. Excellent shoe at a fair price. Amazon was great to deal with as usual.

THREE YEARS LATER I FIND THEM HERE AND AM LOVING THEM ALL OVER AGAIN! THEY EVEN MADE SOME IMPROVEMENTS SINCE THE LAST ALTITUDES. NOT GONNA WEAR THESE TO WORK THIS TIME. EXCELLENT BUY!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Try Um You ll Love Um, May 2, 2011

I bought these low top shoe because I had bought a pair of high top just like them andlove them. I have had problem with me feet for several years and have spent over 1500.00 in custom orthodox and shoe. I do wear my orthodox with these shoes but they work better for me than any other shoe or boot that I have ever tried on. I will always buy these and highly recommend them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost fit well., March 14, 2011

This review is from: Hi-Tec Men's Altitude IV Low WP Light Hiking Shoe (Apparel)
I have big feet, have problems finding shoes that fit well and so hunt and peck among various shoe brands and sizes--ranging from 14W to 15 regular. It is often the case that shoe size for a given brand is too small or too large for the stated size. I ordered a pair of Hi-tec Altitude IV low cut shoes/boots in size 15 regular (M). They fit about right, neither loose or too snug. However, the arch isn't high enough for my foot, causing more weight to fall uncomforatably on the outer margin of my feet about 1/3 forward of the heel.

Determining this, I'd walked in the shoes too much to return them, so experimented instead with adding a little bulk where it was needed. I placed 4 strips of gaffer's tape on the bottom of each removable cushion insole in the shoes, each strip shorter than the last, all centered over the arch about 1/3 forward of the heel. Voila, the shoes then felt much better. Time will tell how long these shoes will last--they make for relatively light hiking/walking shoes and are without a thick heel, which makes them reasonably comfortable walking on pavement and sidewalks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Haven't put it through hardcore testing yet but love them, November 26, 2010

These shoes are extremely comfortable whether you are walking around your neighborhood or in the woods. While I haven't done anything to test the waterproofing, I have full confidence in their performance. They are slightly bulky but they still look good.

I've been a long-time fan of Hi-Tec boots. They seem to fit my feet well - may or may not be true for you. Well constructed and age "gracefully." Reasonably lightweight and very durable. Good soles with excellent traction. Look good enough for "Friday casual." Compared to others of similar quality, the price is right. I have an almost identical pair of 3/4 height boots that I've worn for years and still use for everyday use like mowing. These low cut boots seem to be cut a tad bit larger than those so I have to be sure to wear my thickest socks with them. Otherwise, I'm very pleased.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoes, January 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Every thing I expected, plus required no break in as far as comfort. Not for indoors, I wore these to the grocery store & I have never heard shoes squeak so loud on that type of floor. Otherwise 5 stars.
