The first time I wore Hi Tec hikers I ordered them from a catalog, and walked 5 miles the first day they arrived. Now, many years later, I ordered a new pair of hikers online. (there have been others in between) They fit just as I expected - very well. This is the only brand of shoe I've ever been happy with when ordered and not tried on in a store first. Great show.

Let me begin by saying that I have unusually wide feet and stout legs for a woman. I've often resorted to men's hiking and athletic shoes, as so many women's only come up to a medium width. I initially purchased and returned boots from another site that proved too tight across the instep and toes and had a cuff that was too tight and cut into the back of my calf. The Hi Tec brand came well recommended by friends and a number of reviewers remarked that they ran wide. I was looking for water-resistant-or-proof boots for general hiking and in anticipation of a trip later this year to Scotland.

The boots are exactly what I was hoping for: immediately comfortable, not too heavy or clunky and slightly flexible. I found I had plenty of toe room and height through the instep and the low-cut back and lack of stiff cuff meant that these boots were just right for my thicker ankles. My only change was to replace the existing insole with a sport-type gel insole to get a bit more arch support and heel cushion. These boot appear to be well made, and the combination of loops and lacing hooks made custom adjustment easy. On the fourth day I worked out in bitterly cold weather, assisting my husband with splitting firewood on uneven ground and then hauling it back up the hill through woods to our home. I was delighted with the additional stability I experienced, how warm my feet remained and the immediate comfort of these boots - no breaking in required. One can't beat the price, either, half that of the pair I had to return. I like them so well, I encouraged my husband to purchase a pair to replace his old boots!

The boots lasted through my multiple treks at the three western U.S. national parks. Next test will be on the roughest limestone I have seen.

Glad I did order 1 size larger because they would likely have been too short. half size would probably been enough if offered. I would recommend doing so. Haven't had them long but so far so good.

Got these boots because the lightning deal and good reviews. I've had bad luck with both expensive and cheap boots before, but I've also had good luck with expensive and cheap boots, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The first pair I ordered were my normal size. They ran a bit small for me, so I had to go a half size bigger. Amazon swapped them out free of charge, which was much appreciated. Once I got the bigger boots, I set out to go on a hike in the mountains. I ended up meeting some friends for a 9.5 mile hike total in and out. I think we gained 2700 ft. of elevation over the first half of the hike. Having gone up a decent amount of uphill, I didn't have any complaints about the boots. I do wear sock liners though, which help prevent blisters, but I have found with really lightweight boots, I tend to get blisters even wearing liners. These boots are sturdy, but not too heavy and not too light. My feet did get a little warm by the end of the hike, but that's understandable. These are not the most breathable boots, but the waterproofing worked well on this first hike. I've only got the one hike to base my review on, but if the boots don't destroy my feet on the first hike without having been broken in, then they probably will be fine as long as they hold up. I will report back if I notice any significant issues with the boots. For the low price tag, I found these boots were just as effective as my much more expensive LaSportiva boots, which finally bit the dust.

I work outside everyday on the golf course in wet turf and sometimes rainy wet conditions! I bought these as my old shoes lost their waterproof ability and needed new ones. So far these have fit the bill! comfortable and keeping my socks dry! I also like the not very aggressive bottoms as I am on the greens changing cups all the time and they do not leave foot print marks in the dewy mornings!

I got these Hi-Tec Flagstaff boots in Brown/Clementine, size 10 and the fit was perfect.

People complaining about the size are not in tune with their feet.

These boots have a high ceiling over the toe box and I like that.

Great lateral support and when laced properly and they are taut and ready for work.

The tongue is of the soft variety, which is nice, and the laces are the proper length and stay tied.

The foot bed is such that I require no padding.

I have worn these boots for the past 3 days, 16-18 hour days, and have no complaints at all, in fact, it's almost like I don't even notice they are there.

Have not done anything over the top yet, but I will be monitoring them carefully and if there is any major change I will edit this review accordingly.

If the Hi-Tec Flagstaff's hold up I will buy another pay in about a month or so.

You know they old saying, "If you find something you like, get 2."

Maybe I'll get a 3rd pair, because of the prepper saying, "2 is one and 1 is none."

First of all, the size I ordered(10.5M) is the first size I try on and have tried on for the last 25 years or so, when I go to buy shoes or
boots. These fit just fine, as expected.
I have bought 5 or 6 pair of Hi-Tec boots since 1988 or so and some have been better than others, but they have all been worth the price paid or I wouldn't have bought them again.

I chose the Flagstaff because they were waterproof, 'short'(the shaft height), and light, and happily I believe that I got MORE than I had hoped for as they are also 3/4 shank which is very important if you use your boots for more than the urban jungle.
Most of these inexpensive lw hiking boots are NOT even 1/2 shank but are only 1/4 shank and are, really, unsuitable for anything more than day hikes.
The fact that these boots are 3/4 shank tells me that they were designed for heavy use from the get go, which is uncommon in this price range.

I have not had the chance to do any hiking with these, yet, but i have no reason to believe that they won't perform as expected.
These have been comfortable from the first time I put them on, and I deemed them 'broken in' after the first time I wore them.

I dont really care what my shoes/boots look like as long as they do what I need them to do, but I really like the way these look on me.

I will update this review as I put some more miles on these boots.

Overall, the boots look great. I inspected them and found absolutely no flaws. They are well designed and the manufacturing quality is very good (at least at first sight). However, they run small. I normally use 8 size and ordered them accordingly. I know that the best time to try on a pair of boots is the afternoon since the feet tend to swell during the day, but I could not wait to try these on as soon as I received them, so I put them on in the morning of that day. Well, I believe they were at least half a number small even though it was in the morning and I was not using thick socks. In my opinión, it is a well constructed boot and I am planning on ordering another pair one size bigger, but it would surely be fine for Hi Tec to pay more attention to sizes in order to provide more accurate information about their product.

I wanted a waterproof boot for camping and hiking. I knew I'd be wearing thick socks so I purposely bought a half size larger. I am a woman who wears a men's 9 1/2 (when gender has no bearing, such as in a hiking boot, running shoe, or even a classic loafer). My foot appreciates the wider toe box of men's shoes. I bought a 10 and it fits great, with plenty of room for socks. I haven't walked miles in them, just around the house. But I can tell they'll be good. I ran them under the sink and they shed water great. The laces provide for lots of adjustability in fit. My ankles are thick so I may purchase longer laces, but these work fine. Never hurts to have a spare pair of laces.
