4.0 out of 5 stars Light, comfortable, good fit, don't hold up well over time
They fit well, are as comfortable as sneakers from day one but probably require some break-in before hiking. I usually have to wear gel inserts but have not had to with these.
They are not advertised as water resistant, but I stepped in some mud that turned out to be real soft and one foot sunk in up to the boot tops. A few hours later I hosed off the muddy boot and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Boot, but low Durability Soles
I've put an estimated 250 miles into these boots, about 200 of which hiking and less than 50 of that carrying a full pack.

In general this is a pretty good shoe. They broke-in easily and are pretty comfortable. I've found them flexible enough to use as a year-round hiker. They are not so hot as to be unbearably uncomfortable in the summer, and they are thick...

A few hours later I hosed off the muddy boot and it came fairly clean. No mud or even moisture inside. They look really good, and make my size 11-1/2 feet look a little smaller.
Time will tell if these are good on a long hike. I'll update. This is my first pair of Hi Tec boots for myself.

Update Nov 11, 2010 Have put quite a few miles on them including some rough terrain, still holding up well. Some wear on the soft parts of the soul and stitching starting to come loose. One problem is that laces come untie often no matter how tight I tie them. Need to remember to get some different laces.

Update Nov 2, 2011 They are pretty much worn out. The stitching is coming out and dirt gets in. They were comfortable while they lasted. Since I do not wear them regularly they should have lasted much longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Second Pair Did The Trick, August 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The first pair of these had to be returned because one of the speed laces broke the first time we used the boots. The second pair has preformed well. My son is using these for Boy Scout events and is happy with the boots. Pretty good boot for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars My dad loves them!, January 27, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My dad is 90 years old and needs extra support for his ankles. These boots also don't have a tred that's too knobby that he will trip over and fall, plus they are also very warm. It's risky buying shoes on the internet, when you aren't certain they will fit but they were a perfect fit for him! He and I are very happy with this purchase.

I've put an estimated 250 miles into these boots, about 200 of which hiking and less than 50 of that carrying a full pack.

In general this is a pretty good shoe. They broke-in easily and are pretty comfortable. I've found them flexible enough to use as a year-round hiker. They are not so hot as to be unbearably uncomfortable in the summer, and they are thick enough and water-resistant enough to wear in the snow. You can lace them all the way up for lateral support or skip the last two sets of hooks for greater comfort. They're ugly, but at least they clean easily.

On the other hand, they're not very durable. The sole is relatively thick and stiff, but it's also slippery and wore out very quickly. The soles are almost completely smooth at this point--I would hope to get in at least twice as many miles before this becomes a problem. I am also getting some sole separation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hi-Tec Men's Midland Mid Light Hiking Boot, December 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The boot are very nice but the number didn't be exactly. 7.5 US size isn't 39 EU size, like in the table.

Comfortable boot, good tread, nice laces. Not enough sole thickness in front (ball of foot) as compared to the heel area. Also had to insert inner pads for additional cushion. I purchased this pair to hike up Pikes Peak and back later this summer. I'll have a better review after that trip. So far I've hiked about 35 miles with them. Overall, it's a so-so boot for a reasonable price. More to follow.

I have found that this boot gets the job done. I dont find it to be overly comfortable and it seems to come untied a lot. I think you can go gey the same quality and cheaper at Walmart.
