5.0 out of 5 stars These are the best hiking boots I've ever had
I was a little leery about buying online and not trying them on first. Usually with hiking boots I end up needing a half a size larger to accomodate extra thick socks. But these were true to size. The first day I had them I took off for a little walk just hoping to try them out. I ended up hiking 3 miles through very hilly terrain with snow and ice. These boots didn't...

3.0 out of 5 stars Back of boot uncomfortable
This boot fit well except for the back where it rubbed against the tendon above my heel on my left foot only. I am short, so perhaps it is sized for taller people. I tried a lift inside the shoe, which cured the rubbing but caused foot pain. Finally I cut the inside top back of the shoe and removed some of the stuffing, which cured the problem. The rest of the shoe...

These boots didn't even need to be broken in! They were super comfortable and I didn't get so much as the beginning of a blister.
They are very warm, though. It's something to take into consideration if you do a lot of hiking in the summer. But they really are very rugged, well-made to last, and the most comfortable boots I own. They are worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best boot, November 1, 2008

This is the best boot I've owned yet. I've had them for about 2 years and worn them to Yosemite, Big Basin, Manhattan and everywhere else, and no signs of cracking in the sole at all. They are very durable, in my opinion. The fit is just perfect for me- I have very narrow feet. I agree with the other reviewer that these were comfy from the get-go, no breaking in required. I plan to only buy Hi-Tek from now on.

5.0 out of 5 stars very comfortable shoes!, February 28, 2009

These are probably the most comfortable hiking boots I ever put on. For me, they run a 1/2 size larger. I usually always wear a 7 1/2, but needed a 7. They look great too!

I tried a lift inside the shoe, which cured the rubbing but caused foot pain. Finally I cut the inside top back of the shoe and removed some of the stuffing, which cured the problem. The rest of the shoe fits great, plenty of toe room, and not too heavy.

I have these boots, as well as another pair of Hi-Tecs. Both are very comfortable. I think they make great boots, esp. for the price (I got one pair for half price at Big 5). I have had Vasque boots (Clarion and Sundowner) before but found them too stiff, even once they were broken in. I like the fact that these boots don't hit the back of my ankle. The dark brown color also looks nice. They don't look as bulky as my tan Hi-Tec boots even though they're the same size. I recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, supportive waterproof boot, February 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My husband purchsed this boot a few months earlier, so I tried these on at a local store & loved them. But the 1 pair they had in my size had a defect, so I found it on Amazon @ a great price. I was able to wear them right away with no break in time. They are very supportive for my weak ankles, but aren't too stiff or bulky. They are perfect for all the walking I do during the cold, wet months we have had in GA this year. My feet stay warm & dry. They are attractive & easy to clean also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super hiker and my orthotics fit perfectly, February 28, 2009
All the superlatives apply regarding my satisfaction with the style, fit, comfort, and appearance. Although not an avid hiker, I had not been able to go out much due to my need for custom orthotic supports which didn't fit many other boots. Now I'm on the trails and comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bass Pro Shop can't keep these in stock!, November 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've never worn boots like this before, I'm not a hiker or an outdoor type person, but with bad weather I really wanted some solid shoes I was comfortable with in bad weather. I originally saw this shoe at the Bass Pro Shop and fell in love with them and the price. I went to ask for a size to try on and was promptly told they only had 7s and 10s because they couldn't keep enough in stock for the high demand. Fortunately I took pictures and when I got home, found the exact shoe here and I was able to verify this by comparing the pictures.

I wasn't sure about what size to get so I followed the sizing chart. I messured my foot and got a size 9, it fits perfectly. I was able to wear these boots immedately and comfortably. As with every new shoe, the padding was a bit fluffy around the neck and when I tied them up, my feet were pushed forward in the shoe making it seem like the boot was a little small but I knew this wasn't the case because I had so much room in the heel. But with time and wear and figuring out just how tight I like the laces, my foot now has plenty of room and isn't pushed into the toe box.

The only obstical I'm having to ajust to, is because I'm not use to wearing boots like this, my achilles tendon gets a little sore. It's a very stiff boot and it does have some weight. But with that being said, I love how protected my foot feels. When I put my sneakers on after wearing these boots for a while, I feel like I'm swearing socks.

I love these boots and wouldn't trade them for the world. I get compliments all the time!

5.0 out of 5 stars my favorite hikers!, August 6, 2011
Just what I wanted - I had had a pair of these hikers before and wore them to pieces, literally. Now I have a new pair and I couldn't be happier.
