I hike for over an hour every morning and every vacation I take is a hiking vacation. I absolutely love these boots. I have been wearing them almost exclusively now for about 7 years. They are durable and definitely water proof. I hike in them all year around in the desert Southwest and Southern Colorado. I tromp right through streams without a care. They clean up well. I use brown shoe polish and mink oil on them. I get about 9 months out of them, which is about 2x any other boot I have tried. Enjoy! I wish they would make them in wide widths, that would be my only complaint.

My wife has taken on a couple of hikes. They are solid boot that are quickly comfortable. The ankle support is great. I don't think they would be good with any large amount of weight on your back but I don't think they are marketed as such. They are definitely more than was expected for the price.

I've been hiking in this boot for over a year now. It's not the most supportive boot but not the least either. Waterproofing is great. Durability is excellent.
