What a fantastic introduction to the rise of Hi Records this set gave me! Unlike other sets that rely on the "Greatest Hits" you've heard over and over, this set mines the label's collection for selections that are both representitive of the distinctive Hi Records sound and worth listening to again and again. For my money, this set is worth it for "Aretha, Sing One For Me" alone!

Love. That's really the only word that describes how I feel about this rare album set, and even rarer collection of songs. Al Green was a musical genius in putting together this compilation of Memphis-rich sounds, soul filling soul, and song writing/production that seems to be forgotten in our generation of pop princesses and beat boys. I owned this set in 1997 and it was lifted by college mates. For years I searched, and finally found a reasonably priced used set on Amazon, and I'm in as much love with it now as I was then. Some of these songs you will hear and say, "Hey, I know that! Such and such sings that!" But "such-and-such" did a remake. Hear these songs and hear the originals in all of their musical glory. Thanks again, Al Green, for your musical genius and one time Hi Label gold. And yeah, like the title says, I can't get enough of album 2. It's always been my favorite.

This box set is absolutely amazing! Soul music like no other.
