5.0 out of 5 stars Nice printer, May 28, 2004
By A Customer
I'd recommended it. It really comes close to looking like an actual photograph even with a one megapixel camera. I was really surprised. It's so easy to use, don't need a computer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Photo DyeSub Printer - Recommended, September 21, 2009
This review is from: HI-TOUCH 640PS Photo Printer (Office Product)
We use the Hi-Touch 640PS as a stand alone printer to make 4"x6" prints directly from SmartMedia cards. This is a Dye Sublimation printer that lays down each color (CYM) and a clear protective coating in four passes of the paper through the printer, which is very cool to watch.

All printer funtions can be accessed through the attached hand-held controller and the navigation is very easy to follow.

The print quality is very sharp and the colors come out correctly, with the exception of black. Since it uses the 3 colors on the color ribbon cartridge to make black, it is not a very "deep" and dark representation. Still, it is acceptable for most uses.

Recommended for those needing a fast, stand alone printer (it can be connected via USB, but I haven't used it that way).

5.0 out of 5 stars Hi-Ti Photo Printer, July 25, 2004
Ok, I always look at what the customers have to say about products before buying - so her's my -turn about is fair play-.... I have had terrible luck with printers. My Cannon i950, stopped printing photo magenta after a four-month hiatus (due to a remodel).. Anyway, the 640 is strange looking little unit, even stranger operation - 4 passes through a little mechanical contraption.... But the pictures are spectacular.. totally -send your pictures to Kodak- quality.. My wife's beef is that i take tons of digital photos and none of them ever see the light of day - no more i'm printing everything. Piccture cost is reasonable, about 40 cents a print.. paper, and dye-sheet cartridge very easy to load... No mor ink cartridges.. yea! Anyway, my only complaint is that the printer doesn't have a tray to catch completed prints in the batch mode, so they deop on the floor... but this isn't a show-stopper by any means. Three friends have bought one of these after seeing mine.. The software that comes with for managing printing is a little cumbersome, but workable... What I really like about the software is it gives you a montage of exposures and you pick what you like... no more messing with photoshot bells and whistles to optimize.... Anyway - great printer, and great printer for the price....
