Delaminating into a sticky mess,

I have no problems with the drive. It is fast enough. My beef is that it is delaminating. The exterior coating has delaminated into a sticky mess. My attempts to clean it off are not so good and making matters worse. My drive has seen litle activity as it has been hanging on my office cubical since new. Obviously a manufacturing defect.
