This product is used to prevent skin infection. Our surgeon recommended using Hibiclens before and after surgery. Great antiseptic cleanser,gentle with nice fragrance.

Honestly no body looks forward to having to buy surgical soap but this stuff doesn't leave a gross smell and really isn't bad at all. Cannot argue that it doesn't work. I trust the brand and would buy again if needed.

Hibiclens is chlorhexidine gluconate solution 4.0% w/v and works well to clean the skin before and after surgery. I recently had seen a dermatologist and he did some procedures on my skin and sent samples in for a biopsy. He recommended that I use Hibiclens to clean the skin a couple days prior to surgery if the biopsies came back positive, he would call me and recommend a course of treatment.

Well the call came and his suspicions were correct, I needed to set up an appointment for further surgical work on my skin and he asked if I had purchased the Hibiclens and wanted me to use it twice a day prior to the surgery day. He told me to test the Hibiclens on an area of my skin to check if I had a allergy to Hibiclens. He said not many people experience an allergy, but some do occur and he wanted to be sure that I was non-allergic. It turned out fine and I used it per his instructions right to the surgery date.

After a 2 hour surgery on my back, I was sutured and sent home with a rather large bandage covering the surgical area. The dermatologist continued his recommendation to use the Hibiclens around the areas to keep it clean and other products on the wound itself and a bandage to protect the wound while it heals. Hibiclens has a slight fragrance and it has a red color to it. It cleans the skin quite well and leaves your skin clean, but not dried out or cracking, prevents skin infections, thereby reducing the risk of cross-infection, the antiseptic activity and a persistent antimicrobial effect with rapid bactericidal activity against a wide range of microorganisms, is what was needed.

I am very pleased with this product and it works as it said it would. My skin is healing just fine the dermatologist has taken out the stitches and says everything looks just fine. No secondary bacterial infections, no systemic infections and a wound that is well on its way to complete healing. Nice news this Christmas season. This is a product that helps to promote healing by preventing an opportune bacteria from getting a foothold and causing further infections.

There are many different sizes available for purchase, but what I needed was an 8 oz bottle to cover my medical needs. But, Hibiclens can be a very good antimicrobial skin cleanser helps reduce bacteria that potentially can cause disease, for skin wound and general skin cleansing, surgical hand scrub, personnel hand wash, preoperative skin preparation.

Warnings: Keep out of eyes, ears and mouth, may cause serious and permanent eye injury if placed of kept in the eye during surgical procedures or may cause deafness when instilled in the middle ear through perforated eardrums. Always test on an area of the skin before general use to see if you are allergic to this preparation, use caution around the genital areas.
