3.0 out of 5 stars Too implausble to be good...
Rochelle Alers's "Hidden Agenda" was an improvement over the last book of hers that I read "Careless Whispers", but the sotry was way too inplausble for me. The hero, Matt Sterling Arroyo, is a mercenary who is hired by the shady uncle of the heroine, Eve Blackwell, to track down Eve's ex-husband, who kidnapped their child out of revenge. The ex-husband went down to...

Eve Blackwell desperately wants her son Christopher back. Christopher's father Alex kidnapped him. Eve seeks the aid of a man her uncle Harry knows named Matthew Sterling. What Eve doesn't know is that she will play a part in a plan so dangerous, it could take her life as well as the life of her young son.

Matthew Sterling is going to help Harry Blackwell's neice find her son, but this is the last time he will go undercover. He is going to sell his motel and spend the rest of his life as a farmer. He meets the lovely Eve and feelings begin to surface that he thought were gone.

Eve and Matt play the husband and wife charade. Well after a while it was no longer a charade. Now in order to find out what Alejandro Delgado did with Eve's son, they have to find him.

Hidden Agenda is book #2 of the Hideaway Series. This story features Matthew Sterling who appeared in the book Hideaway. I have read this book many times. It is one of my favorite's in this series. If you haven't met Matthew, please read Hideaway to get a good glimpse at him before reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hidden Agenda - Love Undercover!, December 19, 2001

This review is from: Hidden Agenda (Arabesque) (Paperback)
I definitely loved it. A wonderful, thrilling, action-packed adventure. Matt Sterling's and Eve Blackwell's story is filled with suspense and intrigue, as well as romance. Matt is not only handsome, but a strong and fierce man. Eve is a stubborn, but determined female, who will do whatever it takes to protect her own.

Their coming together may have supposed to been an act to fool others, but when they were together their feelings could not be tamed. The act soon became a reality. Matt was not only Eve's knight in shining armor and protector, but Matt was also Eve's warm-bloodied, able-bodied hero, soon to be discovered lover, and no longer pretend husband, but husband in every sense of the word.

The events in "Hidden Agenda" were well written and set the pace for a wonderful read. This book is certainly one that the readers would want to add to their list if they have not already read it. However, be sure to check out Ms. Alers' other books in the series, "Hideaway" then after "Hidden Agenda", read "Vows", Joshua Kirkland's and Vanessa Blanchard's story. These are all must reads.

Again, I loved "Hidden Agenda". It is a very good book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance/Adventure like no other, May 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Hidden Agenda (Arabesque) (Paperback)
Eve Blackwell is a mother who is on mission to find her toddler son. Matt Sterling is a dangerous man, exemplary when he is on a government assignment. When Eve and Matt meet, the attraction is phenomenal and Matt mixes up both he and Eve's senses. This romance is the best, the reader even loses their equilibrium. Rochelle Alers' novels are impossible to put down and cause readers to really wonder where these characters exist. You are immediatley drawn into them; they are attractive, poised, cultured and most importantly, they love "hard". Rochelle is a forerunner in African American Romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Top of the Hideaway Series, February 22, 1999

This review is from: Hidden Agenda (Arabesque) (Paperback)
Rochelle Alers does an excellent job in this book. This novel combines a great romance story in intrigue and espionage. It is a great read and you find youself cheering for the characters. Rochelle eludes to the other books in the Hideway series and gives you just a tidbit of the following book...Joshua Kirkland's story. It is a novel you will find you just can't put down. If you like romance, you'll love this book. If you like mystry, you'll love this novel as well. It's one you wouldn't want to miss.

"Hidden Agenda" was my introduction to Ms. Alers' work. She has a new fan for life in me. From the first page to the last I was caught up in this tangled web of passion and suspense. Her hero, Matthew Sterling, could rescue me anytime. After, rereading "Hidden Agenda" three more times I rushed to get more of Ms. Alers' books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whatever It Takes, January 6, 2010
Eve Blackwell is willing to do whatever it takes to get her son back, even if that means pretending to be married to independent operative Matthew Sterling. Matt worked for the U.S. government but has decided to call it quits. That is, until his long time friend calls in need of a favor. His niece's son has been kidnapped by his father, Eve's ex-husband, and taken to Mexico. Matt agrees to find Eve's son and to take down Alejandro Delgado, Eve's ex-husband, and his South American connections. Matt didn't realize the pull that Eve would have on his heart strings and Eve was not looking for another husband, just getting her son back. Amidst the perils that they face, Matt and Eve find a love that binds them together for life.

Hidden Agenda is an excellent read by Rochelle Alers. There is romance, kidnapping, theft, and drug smuggling. It could be classified as a romantic adventure. Alers does a wonderful job of painting detailed pictures of the beautiful Mexican settings. The plot is also well developed, along with the primary and secondary characters. Hidden Agenda is the second book in the re-release of the Hideaway series. The book and series are wonderful reads.
