This review is from: The Hidden Face of Shyness (Paperback)
this book was so thorough in describing every aspect of social anxiety. I was able to identify what used to be a problem without a name for me that tormented me all my life when I read this book.

This book provides an outstanding reference to shyness in various social situations and dives into facinating scientific and biological detail on why shyness occurs. A definate read for anyone who not only wants to overcome shyness but wants to learn more about its evolutionary origins.

General Study Of Shyness And Therapies..., August 10, 2005
This review is from: The Hidden Face of Shyness (Paperback)
I recently finished this book and feel it was pretty good overall, aside from a lack of more how to get over this ugly symptom (shyness). If you're looking for more of a self help guide on overcoming shyness, I would search elsewhere; maybe "Painfully Shy" by the Markway's? However, this book is an excellent reference on how, where, and what are the factors which contribute to shyness. As well as some treatments, with drugs that have worked for many. Just feel there should have been more on how to overcome and etc... Like I say though, great reference for understanding the disorder and where it comes from (different sources). It does go into some treatment options and brings up things like seratonin and dopamine in the brain, which both effect social anxiety. Overall, I would recommend the book! Much luck friends, all the best and take it easy...

This review is from: The Hidden Face of Shyness (Paperback)
Most of the books covers what shyness is, why it exists, etc. Only about 25 percent of the book covers what to do about it.

A great book for someone living with a shy person, October 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Hidden Face of Shyness (Paperback)
I found this book extremely informative, expecially for someone living with a shy person. By reviewing all of the possible causes of anxiety, the authors helped me to realize that there are "explanations" for this problem. As a result, we should not hold the shy person fully responsible for having this condition. Nonetheless, as the authors point out, there is certainly room for improvement!
