This story blew me away.
"eliza19922001"
She was very strong when she tried to find her mother, but I felt like when she found Jack, she fell for him a little quickly.

I thought the first 3 book in the series were just o.k. & I was glad to see that this 4th book finally pulled me into it.

This book is really a Hidden Jewel, because it was truly hidden behind the other weak Landry books (Ruby, Pearl in the Mist, & All that Glitters). Tarnished Gold, the last book in the Landry series, was a great book, too, but Hidden Jewel is the best in the Landry series. Pearl is such a strong character that I was shocked. I'm so used to reading such weak female characters such as the women in the Cutler series and Annie in the Casteel series. No incest theme ran amok throughout this book and the parents didn't get killed in this book. Finally!!! Now this is a must read book. If you read the other Landry books, don't stop because of those books' weak storylines please read Hidden Jewel and Tarnished Gold. Hidden Jewel is TRULY the best book in the series. I'm so glad I found this Hidden Jewel.

I can't say that this is the best book in the Landry series. I liked the other daughters' (Annie, Christie) stories, but this book isn't bad and deserves a decent 3 out of 5 stars. I'm sorry to say that a death triggers the series of events here, that's what happened to Annie and Christie and so felt rather repetitive, but this book is overall a decent read. Remember Buster Trahaw? You thought he was gone forever, didn't you? Oh ho ho. And surprisingly, Gladys also comes back - so this story is still an exciting read.

Wow! This book was great! I only put out *4* because I had to skim through a bit from it getting to plain at times. But, I must say, It was great and I LOVE to see a Strong herione! Pearl was great. She stood up straight when her father and mother slouched and made the whole family survive. Yeaa! I love the way the ending turned out... Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy. The part I disliked was about Ruby. I always liked her as a strong girl, too, but this book made her seem to caught up in evil forces to even care about her family. I would have thought she'd be more level-headed, like her daughter. Some parts were unexpected and great.
Way to go, Neiderman!

This book for me was a little boring in the beginning. I felt as though it would have been more interesting if Ruby was narrorating the story. But as I read it more, it really did interest me. My favorite book from the Landry series is "All that Glitters". All in all, it was a good book, glad that they all were happy in the end.

I must be one of V.C. Andrews biggest fans! I have her
entire collection (ranging all the way from Flowers in the
Attic up until her most recent book, Melody). I rate all of
her books with a 10, except for Garden of Shadows; I rate
that particular book with about a 7. This is due to the fact
that I didn't care too much for the main character in this
novel (Bart). I especially, didn't too much take to his
childish, and somewhat neurotic behavior; all of which I
thought the author prolonged. Personally I was not too
enthused over Garden of Shadows. But you know what they
say...."For every 'good' bunch, there must be at least one
rotten apple." (Or is that just what I say?)
I hope I haven't discouraged anyone from reading this book,
because we all have, and are entitled to different opinions.
Well, I hope each and everyone of you V.C. Andrews readers
enjoys her collection in its entirety (I know I do, of
course, with that one exception). Oh, by the way, my favorite
books in the collection happen to be the: Casteel Series,
Cutler Family Series, My Sweet Audrina, Landry Series, and
the-soon-to-be new Logan Series.
Have fun reading these exciting, and spellbinding stories...
"Kiddies"!
Devoted Fan,
V.H. :)

This book is really good for everyone to read. After graduating Pearl Andreas is ready to start off her new life in hopes of becoming a doctor. Thinking that life was perfect she had no remorse in acheiving what she wanted and what her father wanted to become. As some say for every good there is twice the bad to overcome. Never the less the winner is the one who is determined to press foward. Pearl is left to handle the family crises that befalls on them one after another. She puts her family before herself. This book is the book that shows how unselfish we can be. Though how hard it is to persue your happiness in some other ones fall. However we keep our head straight and get what needs to be done in the sake for others. I recomend this book to everyone who thinks that every thing in this world can be given on a silver platter. Life aint easy nor is it perfect. Get used to it and read this book.

I loved the first 3 books and then this one I skipped over alot because it got boring, but I read it anyways to get through it and then I read the 5th book(prequel)which confused me a lot at first until I realized it was meant to be the first book. So far its excellent. But. Hidden Jewel I rated a 3 because its really weak. I actually Live in Houma, Louisiana and found out about these book from a pen pal and was curious what they say about here. I identify with most of the places, but the only thing I;d have to say I dont like is it makes it sound like we live in top of a swamp or something and sure we have swamp and bayou, but its not like we have to boat our way around. we do drive. But this is a great set of books!....
