4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, August 10, 2001
By A Customer
Wow! This book was great! I only put out *4* because I had to skim through a bit from it getting to plain at times. But, I must say, It was great and I LOVE to see a Strong herione! Pearl was great. She stood up straight when her father and mother slouched and made the whole family survive. Yeaa! I love the way the ending turned out... Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy. The part I disliked was about Ruby. I always liked her as a strong girl, too, but this book made her seem to caught up in evil forces to even care about her family. I would have thought she'd be more level-headed, like her daughter. Some parts were unexpected and great.

Way to go, Neiderman!

4.0 out of 5 stars My favorite of the series so far..., December 9, 2005
I thought the first 3 book in the series were just o.k. & I was glad to see that this 4th book finally pulled me into it. This book is about Pearl, Ruby's daughter. This book was adventurous & took you back & fourth to the Bayou. I couldn't understand how Pearl recall as much as she did from her childhood when she lived in the Bayou because wasn't she like 9 months or something like that when she lived there? This is my least favorite series of V.C. Andrews's series but I did enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Jewel of a Book!!!, March 5, 1998
By A Customer
This book is really a Hidden Jewel, because it was truly hidden behind the other weak Landry books (Ruby, Pearl in the Mist, & All that Glitters). Tarnished Gold, the last book in the Landry series, was a great book, too, but Hidden Jewel is the best in the Landry series. Pearl is such a strong character that I was shocked. I'm so used to reading such weak female characters such as the women in the Cutler series and Annie in the Casteel series. No incest theme ran amok throughout this book and the parents didn't get killed in this book. Finally!!! Now this is a must read book. If you read the other Landry books, don't stop because of those books' weak storylines please read Hidden Jewel and Tarnished Gold. Hidden Jewel is TRULY the best book in the series. I'm so glad I found this Hidden Jewel.
