More About the Author
NANCY TEMPLE RODRIGUE
Nancy Temple Rodrigue lives in the small town of Lompoc, California, where she writes her novels. Besides writing, Nancy enjoys driving her award-winning 1957 T- Bird and showing it at Car Shows.
Writing about Walt Disney and the Disney parks comes easy for Nancy as she has been an avid Disney fan ever since she was 6 years old and went to Disneyland for the first time. Her novels show her admiration and respect for the man who started it all-Walt Disney.
Nancy loves to entertain and educate her readers while providing a means to have a great time inside the realm Walt Disney created. Her first Disney themed novels are in the HIDDEN MICKEY series. The start of the adventure is "HIDDEN MICKEY: Sometimes Dead Men DO Tell Tales!" The inspiration for the first book came from long-time friend and past Disneyland cast member David W. Smith when he watched the Disney movie National Treasure. His idea was to base a story on Walt Disney being the person of interest behind a hidden treasure. He contacted Nancy asking her to co-author the book with him. In the 3 months that followed, Nancy created a great cryptic clue driven storyline with three main characters, Adam Michaels, Lance Brentwood, and Beth Roberts. Adam and Lance found Walt Disney's lost Diary, and had to solve the clues left by Walt. Needing help they brought Beth into the mix. Having characters and a complete storyline with over 120,000 words in the novel written, David stepped to give her some Disney cast member inside secrets, and a cliffhanger epilogue to insert in the novel. This first book, titles "Sometimes Dead Men DO Tell Tales!" released on September 1, 2009. Readers were immediately hooked, and they couldn't wait to devour more, and demanded a sequel. Not expecting the sudden interest both Nancy and Dave didn't quite know where to start, so Nancy's husband, Russ, suggested a storyline. He knew Nancy had previously written a book of fantasy that could be incorporated here. His idea was to introduce that fantasy, since Walt Disney was all about fantasy. Using a mysterious Wolf character, along with a Red Diamond Pendant (that he designed with a Hidden Mickey in the gold scrollwork) that would have special powers since it once belonged to Merlin. When he made the suggestion, Nancy immediately recognized the story and the character she previously created. "This is a great storyline to introduce in Hidden Mickey 2", she said. Both authors agreed, so it became the main plot to the sequel "HIDDEN MICKEY 2: It All Started..." with Nancy's, Dave's, and Russ' input and involvement. This book released September, 2010. In Nancy's other novel she created Wolf to have the unusual ability to traverse time, so in book 2 she had him bring Walt the mysterious Red Diamond Pendant while on a trip in the Jungles of Colombia, 1940. When it came to the writing of another book to the series, Dave didn't want to work in the fantasy direction, so when book 2 was released he suggested Nancy write her own book with fantasy, and he would write his own, but without fantasy. In book 3 and 4, Nancy gave Wolf his own story, introducing his family, explaining why he had unusual abilities, and his relationship with Walt Disney and Walt's legacy. "HIDDEN MICKEY 3 Wolf!: The Legend of Tom Sawyer's Island" released at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books April, 2011, and ending Wolf's story in "HIDDEN MICKEY 4 Wolf!: Happily Ever After?" Nancy wrote a grand finale where Wolf, Walt Disney, and all her main characters are in a final battle between good and evil inside the Disneyland park (The Hardback even has an Alternate ending for readers to enjoy).
Nancy then went on to continue the Hidden Mickey saga, but with a younger generation of clue solvers, written for the Adult, Teen, as well as Tween readers (age 9 to 90). Fans asked, and she listened! So, the HIDDEN MICKEY ADVENTURES series is born! This series starts readers with Action-Adventure Mystery in "HIDDEN MICKEY ADVENTURES 1: Peter and the Wolf", released September 2012, featuring favorite characters like Wolf from the previous series, and introducing Peter and other new characters you will grow to love.
