Fun, Informative, and VERY well organized, October 19, 2009
This review is from: The Hidden Mouse: A Comprehensive Guide to the Hidden Mickeys of the Disneyland Resort (Paperback)
Over the years, the whole Hidden Mickey thing has definitely increased in popularity. Where it especially becomes fun is when you are waiting in a line queue to get onto your favorite attraction; what better way to spend the time than combing the nearby area for Hidden Mickeys? If you're a Disney fan and have no idea what I'm talking about, then this book is an excellent source for you. Filled with fantastic color photos, what I like most about this book is that if you don't like spoilers, you can still get a lot of this, as the author, Alan Joyce, allows those who want to hunt on their own to just read initial 'clue' sections for each area of the park if they decide not to go more indepth and read the chapters. Besides Hidden Mickey info, Disneyland enthusiasts will also get interesting bits of trivia in each chapter, such as this one from Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin section in Mickey's Toontown chapter:
As you come to the end of the ride, the vehicles pass a series of numbered lockers on the right side of the track. Look for one labeled as locker 3.1416 (an approximation of the number Pi).
And there's plenty more where that came from! The photography of the Mickeys is also well done as well as printed in a quality manner. I also like the fact that (once again) rather than spoiling ALL the fun, Joyce chooses to let readers hunt many of the harder-to-find Mickeys themselves without a visual aid, but just the informative text.
This one is a very fun and breezy read, and at the size it is printed, makes a perfect companion to take with you to Disneyland. Each chapter is color coordinated, making it easy to flip between different sections of the park. The Hidden Mickeys are also categorized according to whether they are actual Hidden Mickeys or those of questionable nature (meaning it could just be a matter of personal perception). Either way, LOTS OF FUN!
This book acknowledges the fact that Disneyland is constantly changing, but I was very impressed by how up-to-date the info was; it also covers California Adventure, Downtown Disney, as well as the Disneyland Resort Hotels.
Highly recommended for both readability as well as design. Nice job!

Fun addition to a trip to Disneyland, August 3, 2011
This review is from: The Hidden Mouse: A Comprehensive Guide to the Hidden Mickeys of the Disneyland Resort (Paperback)
As a Disney fanatic who managed to squeeze in two trips there in a year (we aren't Southern CA residents) I heard about the hidden mickeys while in line at the park. Another patron pointed one out to me and I was hooked. I was thrilled to get the book and immediately looked through the whole thing. Unfortunately we haven't been back to the park to use it yet, but the pictures and way it's laid out makes me confident that it will be the perfect addition to our next trip!
