Hidden Passages, August 21, 2006
This review is from: Hidden Passages: Tales to Honor the Crones (Paperback)
There is an excess of books about women and craft on the market. To wade through the lists to find a genuine voice that speaks into the heart is a daunting prospect. That is why I find myself in joy at encouraging each true heart to read Vila SpiderHawks's Hidden Passages `Tales to Honor the Crones'.
Here are eight stories that make a journey of depth and light around the Wheel of Life each engaging the light that is the gift of wisdom from our crones. This book shows the magickal presence of the Goddess in such mundane events as "It was still dark when Mother and Grandmother and I went to the market." (Maiden, Mother, Crone Cara) which evolves into the real-dream of maturation.
Here we see and feel deep inside ourselves that where a woman walks, there comes the potential for awakening wisdom and compassion that speaks to the hidden longings that are universal hearts beating as one. We see and feel that potential for joy and love in our own heart no matter the individual path
we are on.
The Tales in Hidden Passages brought laughter and tears as I identified with each woman and felt the resonance of her journey within myself.
Vila SpiderHawk's writing is clear and articulate while creating character and mood that makes each of these stories a stand alone experience and the whole brings delight to any reader!

For Love of the Goddess Within, July 9, 2006
This review is from: Hidden Passages: Tales to Honor the Crones (Paperback)
These stories are full of magick and wonder, and tender love that is both honest and real. I am 42, and the Crone years seem to be speeding closer every second. I use this book as a strengthening tool, to help me love and honor myself as my body changes.
Of the three faces of Goddess, Maiden, Mother and Crone, Crone has always been the hardest for me to be close to. She frightened me in many ways. After reading this, I know my love for the Crone is far stronger than my fear. I only needed to see her more clearly.
The stories are so real that you step into them - and into incredible worlds *where I wish I lived :-)*
This is a book for any woman who wants to get closer to the Feminine Divine, including the Divine within herself. It is powerful.
I can't wait for more work by this author!

Hidden Passages, Hidden Treasures, June 20, 2006
This review is from: Hidden Passages: Tales to Honor the Crones (Paperback)
This is a book of eight short stories that honor the third phase of a woman's life, the crone years, the grandmother years. Each of these stories is quite different, yet each carries the thread of deeply respecting the feminine, and the divine feminine, in every woman. These stories made me laugh, made me cry, took me on adventures to places I've never dreamed could exist.
Hidden Passages is not a book that I could read falling asleep at night. It is daytime reading at its best. If it affects you like it has me, you will reconsider who you are and how you relate to the world around you, and you will be entertained and delighted along the way.
