About the Artist
Jacob was born in Moscow, Russia, where he lived until he was two. At that time his family emigrated to Israel. 10 months later to France. Another 6 months and they made it Canada. Jacob was three. And ready to settle down. Growing up in Vancouver, B.C., and later Seattle, Washington, he was exposed to a wide variety of influences. His father played piano for a living; so there was always a spinet or two in the home. For a brief time in the 5th grade, even a saxophone. But it wasnt until he picked up a guitar that Jacob really found his muse. And simple and earnest as they were, those early songs extolling the virtues of batteries and family vacations did pave the way for eventually more sophisticated material. Recently, Jacob spent several years as one half of The Two Jew Revue, a highly regarded Los Angeles-based comedy music act. But although he enjoyed making people laugh, Jacob found his passion for the music taking over. He left the group to focus on songs from his heart.
Jacobs music is a smart, melodic guitar pop that owes a debt to Sting and Crowded House. His musical tastes, like his childhood years, span the planet, and its not uncommon to hear some Latin or even Slavic textures in his songs. Vocally, he roams a territory somewhere between Neil Finn and Rob Thomas, all the while stamping out a unique sound of his own.
