A great start to a series!,

This was a great start to this "star " series. I can't wait to read the next. I am a true fan of Nora Roberts and love all her novels. I think she is the most wonderful suspenseful romantic writer and I absolutely love her mystery series "in death". I normally don't read the silhouette, Harlequin genre and after reading this I am not sure why. Like a lot of Nora's books it is a series and should be read in order so that is what I intend to do. Bailey is a mysterious women who has a gun, a diamond, a lot of money and amnesia. She hires a Private investigator named Cade to find herself as she only has flashes of who she thinks she is.

Star Series is Wonderful. What a Great Read.,

I LOVE Nora Roberts books. Bailey has amnesia and she hires Cade to help her find out about herself. With a pile of money,a gun, a diamond worth a lot, a mysterious lady and a man- this mystery/romance is worth the read. I thought it was kind of ironic to have amnesia and hire an PI to find yourself. What a different twist to the typical amnesia romance story. Of course, that is why I Love Nora Roberts books so much, because they are not typical. These three were no exception. The one complaint that I would have with these three is that the definately work better if you read them in order. This is very rarely the case with Nora Roberts series. Usually each book in a series can stand alone or be read out of order with little loss in clarity. However, this series seemed to build on each other.

Fast-paced and Fun!,

"Hidden Star" is the first book in Nora Roberts' "Stars of Mithra" series and I found it highly entertaining. It kept my attention the whole way through and contained a very original storyline.Bailey walks into Cade Parris' Private Investigator's office on a rainy day with quite a dilemma. She has no idea who she is and has a bag containing over a million dollars in cash, a gun, and a giant blue diamond. She hires Cade to find out who she is and what has happened to her, and their adventure begins there. Cade and Bailey find themselves immediately drawn to each other, and the whirlwind romance they share amidst the mayhem around them is sexy and fun. The story is well-written and does not take the path of a usual amnesia story. If you enjoy innovative and fast-paced mystery/romance, this book will not disappoint. Despite the fact that it is a relatively short novel, the characters are well-developed and also very likeable. This book is just good, clean fun!

A fun read from one of the best.......,

I call books like these "potato chip" books. You just keep reading until the're done. It is short enough to read in a day and makes you feel good when your done. Even in a book of this duration Ms. Roberts draws her characters vividly. I will be anxious to meet the other two couples in the succeeding books.Ree-views

The Beginning of A Fun Adventure,
By
This review is from: Hidden Star (The Stars Of Mithra) (Silhouette Intimate Moments, 811) (Paperback)
HIDDEN STAR is the beginning book in the Stars of Mithra trilogy and the reader is dropped right into action from the first page. Bailey James appeared like a timid beauty with one major problem - she couldn't remember anything, not even her identity. She stumbled into Cade Parris' office after picking his name out of a telephone book. She knew her life was in danger, but didn't know who was after her or why they were after her. The only thing in her possession was a blue diamond the size of a fist.
Of course Cade Parris had seen all kinds of people come through the door to his private investigating office, but the instant he saw Bailey, his heart was lost. He felt as if he had been waiting for her his entire life. Now if he could only be certain that she wasn't a murderer, or married, etc. He decided to go to any length to find the answers to this puzzle, no matter what the outcome. HIDDEN STAR is definitely a piece of romantic fiction but has strong undertones of mystery. The web Nora Roberts weaves around the lives of Cade Parris and Bailey James (don't you just love that name?) leaves the reader enthralled with the entire story. The time spent reading this book is definitely enjoyable but it will be addicting. I read this entire book in one afternoon and luckily had SECRET STAR, the next book in the series, on my shelf. But it didn't stop there - I immediately went on the search for CAPTIVE STAR, the final book. Nora Roberts' trilogy books have taken on an identity all their own. Her single books are excellent, but it seems as if her trilogies have gotten to the point that her devoted fans go into a feeding frenzy when the next book in a series hits the stores. How does THE STARS OF MITHRA compare to her more recent trilogies? THE STARS are very good, but not her best in my opinion. Her later trilogies have more character development and more wit, although the creation of the character of M.J. O'Leary (one of Bailey's friends) is a masterpiece. If you've never read any of Roberts's books, I'd recommend the CHESAPEAKE BAY trilogy or MACKADE BROTHER trilogies before this one.

One of her better series,
By Angela Schmangela (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hidden Star (The Stars of Mithra) (Kindle Edition)
This is an older series by Nora Roberts, but it's a good one. It's one of the first to hint at the paranormal, a theme that would become popular in Nora's later trilogies. It's a little on the formulaic, especially if you are a reader of her work, but there's a reason she's so successful. Strong characterizations and well-developed plots are part of the magic, but the rest is just that certain something that Nora brings to the table.
Bailey wakes up in a hotel room with almost total amnesia. She remembers her first name, and that's about it. Far more alarming, though, is what she finds in her purse. She thumbs through a phone book and picks the first private detective she comes across, which in the way of Romancelandia is the best thing she could have done. How she and the PI, Cade, figure out exactly what happened and what Bailey's gotten herself into makes for a quick but satisfying read. Note: The second book in the series, Captive Star, isn't the best book ever written, but the third and final, Secret Star, more than makes up for it.

I love Nora Roberts, particularly when she writes a triology. This one is no exception. Interesting characters, great romance/sex, and a fascinating storyline that ties the books together. The bad guy is almost too bad to be believed but hey that's what escapist fiction is all about, right?

First in the Stars of Mithra trilogy: three best friends run into trouble over a long holiday weekend, each separately escaping danger and finding true love.
This was the best of the three (a full star better), as both leads were personable and fun. And the amnesia gimmick is always a kick. Enjoy.

Nora Roberts does a great job writing trilogies.
After having read the first of the series, I couldn't wait to start on the second and then the third. I really suggest these be read in the sequence they were written.....holds much more intrigue that way.

Bailey James walks into private eye Cade Parris in desperate need of help. She has amnesia and can't remember anything not even her own name. It was a great being to the trilogy and Cade was pretty creative in trying to figure out who Bailey is and who is after her.
