4.0 out of 5 stars "Interesting"
Glenn Kimball's compacted work begins with a summary of biblical origins, the canonization of the scriptures, and a segment on the nature and origin of the Early Church. Also included is a short definition of the word apocrypha, which Kimball insists orginally meant "one too sacred and secret to be in everyone's hands." However, its etymoligical derivative,...

Easy reading with a lot of new material presented but not for anyone who would pursue the subject further. The bibliography contains no more than a listing of the sources. Where can these original documents be found? Information is not much good unless it can be verified by the sources. Otherwise, it remains just another good read.

This review is from: Hidden Stories of the Childhood of Jesus (Hidden Treasure) (Paperback)
Glenn Kimball's compacted work begins with a summary of biblical origins, the canonization of the scriptures, and a segment on the nature and origin of the Early Church. Also included is a short definition of the word apocrypha, which Kimball insists orginally meant "one too sacred and secret to be in everyone's hands." However, its etymoligical derivative, which is rendered into apocrypha by joining apo-(away)+kryptein(to hide)=Greek apocryphos, does not suggest Kimball's definition. The stories found here are very interesting, and are full of tales not only of the young Messiah's life and deeds, but of the lives of Mary and Joseph, and the rest of Jesus' family as well. While these hidden stories may seem a bit jejune to the sceptic, they will still nevertheless be a fascinating collection of extra-biblical stories for the individual seeking knowledge on the early life of Christ; and they will also be a fair study companion for the search of the historical Jesus.

Kimball explains the orgin of the Holy Bible in a clear, consise manner. It made me understand what many years of Sunday school classes never taught me. He has well documented research to support his information. And he translates some early documents to "fill in" gaps Jesus' childhood. If you have any interest in Christianity, you should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you love children, I highly recommend it!, October 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hidden Stories of the Childhood of Jesus (Hidden Treasure) (Paperback)
After hearing Mr. Kimball on the Art Bell Show, overflowing with more information than he could possibly get on the show, I rushed out to get the book. The format was good in that he wrote of the historical background then the very inspiring stories of Christ's childhood. With an open mind he said his purpose for the initial research was to prove (or not) the existance of God. I found his research a great asset to those who are willing to see, wanting to learn and able to feel the love for the truth. Thank-You!

5.0 out of 5 stars A 'Must Read'for those seeking truth without Excuses., August 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hidden Stories of the Childhood of Jesus (Hidden Treasure) (Paperback)
The Hidden Stories was much more than I would expect to be published openly. A lot that I read was 'common knowledge' to me but I was not able to bring it together. Now there is a series that not only give much needed facts, but also gives many references for us to go and research it for ourselves.I admire the boldness and straight-forward approach to get us to think about the life of Jesus and to reject traditions of men. In this time much is now coming to light that have been hidden from the masses.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is wonderful...it has answered many questions., April 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hidden Stories of the Childhood of Jesus (Hidden Treasure) (Paperback)
I have been so impressed with this book that I have purchased several of them to give away because of the simple history of the Bible and the eairly life of Jesus. Many questions have been answered as to His life and why more things are not written about His life between 12 and 30. This is truly an inspired book! Kimball has done a great job in orginizing the subject and relating to the people of today. I can now understand why many Christians feel that the Dead Sea Scrols are a threat to their basic belief system. A great book to read and easy to understant!

5.0 out of 5 stars AUTHOR'S SPECIAL COMMENTS, June 3, 1998
This review is from: Hidden Stories of the Childhood of Jesus (Hidden Treasure) (Paperback)
This is an extra-Biblical history of the childhood of Jesus written by His brothers and Matthew. It is contained within the ongoing series called, "Hidden Treasure Series". It contains the known accounts beginning with Jesus' great grandparents down to the death of Joseph when Jesus was about 14 years old. This is a must read for those who would like to broaden their understanding of the recorded histories of Jesus that have been ignored since the second century. These writings were well known before the canon was formalized and then lost in history out of neglect. The entire series will restore for the reader the writings that have been hidden from around the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shines light into dark historical corners, October 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Hidden Stories of the Childhood of Jesus (Hidden Treasure) (Paperback)
Having just read this excellent book, I now have to review my scepticism of Patton's claimed-to-be-true novel "THE Autobiography of Jesus of Nazareth...". Kimball has done a wonderful task in researching all those manuscripts that you occassionally hear about but don't necessarily connect together. If what these authors claim is true, then the orthodox Church has a lot of explaining to do. Kimball has shone light into the dark areas that I've often wondered about but was told not to look too closely at! I'm hoping that we live in an age of revelation. These book are a definite and positive step forward. Although a slim volume, I highly recommend this book.
