5.0 out of 5 stars Otto Warburg MD, Brilliant - Oxygen Kills Cancer, April 1, 2010

I really enjoyed this book and especially learning the history about Otto Warburg, M.D. & his premise that all cancer is due to a low oxygen environment in the cells. There seems to be a lot of truth as our great grandparents didn't get cancer, they ate mostly farm fresh foods, not overly processed, hydrogenated foods and margarine. There is a lot of technical information in the book that I really feel pertains to physicians only, but maybe that was the idea. I think the repetition in the book is o.k, as it is pointed out there is SO much eroneous information out there, (so called studies), and maybe this book will get people to think. This book is a 2nd chance to grasp Otto Warburg's discovery, and apply simple substances to the diet that may prevent ongoing health abnormalities. Brian also supplies "food for thought" regarding a low carb diet for longevity. The information supplied in this book far supersedes any opinion of style. Thanks Brian for bringing some truth back that may have once been lost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book, January 16, 2008

This review is from: Hidden Story of Cancer (Hardcover)
The information in this book is long overdue. The Hidden Story of Cancer reveals not only the primary cause of all cancer but what you can do to avoid the possibility of contracting it. It also exposes as myths and fallacies many of the things you have been led to believe as true...such as causes of cancer, the dangers of certain foods and supplements. I urge you, if this interests you, to not wait for this book to show up on book selling websites as it may not, but to go directly to his website www.brianpeskin.com and get this book! The website also has very useful and valuable information on it. I wish I had known this information long ago, it would have kept me cancer free...that I truly believe.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2+2=4, May 13, 2009
This review is from: Hidden Story of Cancer (Hardcover)
I have read numerous books on a healthy lifestyle. Some very good ones and some I didn't even bother to finish. Unlike some so called health experts, the author of "The Hidden Story of Cancer," Brian Peskin does seem to be able to add 2+2 concerning nutrition and get 4. Even though I have yet to read the whole book, I have listened to an audio interview of the author on his websight and also read several of articles on the subject there. Peskin backs up all of his contentions with scientific data, which verify his ideas. On everything from cholesteral and the statins, to soy, to the essential fatty acids, to eating healthy meat vs. to many carbs, especially refined ones, he seems to have accurate answers.

I did check on the Essential Fatty Acid Supplement the author recommends and was turned off by the very high price of it. There are much cheaper and every bit as effective ways to get the essential fatty acids into your diet on a daily basis. Having said that, the author's information seems sound.

What strikes me is that various authors will each have an important part of the nutritional picture that they accurately describe. I just finished reading a book called, "The Calcium Lie." Bones are not simply made up of calcium, but at least twelve other minerals. And vitamins like C are not just one or two nutrients, ascorbic acid for example, but contain a number of other essential nutrients. And you need all of these nutrients in their proper ratios to each other for the supplement to usable by the body. With each new discovery, I becoming ever mroe firm in my conviction that we need to stay away from processed food and snythetic supplements. Let your food be your medicine bottle. We not only need the right fats, from whole foods, but also thr right vitamins and minerals with all their synergistic co-factors (nutirents that work together, enabling each of the minerals, etc. to do their job). At first glance inorporating all the essential components of a healthy lifestyle into your diet can seem hard to carry out, but it easier than it looks at first glance. Just take it one step at a time.

This book delivered a great idea that takes cancers in a uniform: the shift of glucose metabolism from oxidative phosphorylation towards glycolysis. It is a good hypothesis and a hypothesis only. And this book is poorly supported as the author did not show the criteria why he choose to believe some literature while ignore others, all of them are all in common based on so-called science. More important, the sale ads for some products contained in the book makes it more like a ad for these products, which really made me feel bad at the start of the reading. And the covered secret privacy funding support for this project may raise another question of the orientation the book are directing into.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Hidden Story of Cancer - Very Important Advice, October 8, 2011
By
This review is from: Hidden Story of Cancer (Hardcover)
I have over 500 books on health and nutrition, but I consider "The Hidden Story Of Cancer" my most important book. I have treated breast cancer with only surgery, as well as natural supplements and treatments. I am currently in remission. When I first started taking the Parent Essential Oils recommended in Brian Peskin's book (along with the Herbal supplement and the Mineral supplement), I brought my cancer tumor marker down from 23 to 11 in just one month (normal is anything lower than 38 for breast cancer). Also, I brought my glucose level down from 148 to 90 (also in just one month). So that was positive feedback in two areas that proved to me that I was on the right track. I have also followed Brian's advice regarding diet, and have gone off the mostly vegetarian diet, and am including plenty of quality organic meat (grass-fed beef and free-range chicken), as well as free-range organic eggs and organic cheese. I feel terrific, and understand now why I needed to change my diet. Also, after learning that fish oil can increase glucose levels, as well as increasing the thickness of artery walls, I'm so glad I stopped all my marine oils (cod liver, fish and krill). That has also contributed to my health by switching to only a Parent Essential Oil supplement. I know that not only will this plan help prevent any return of cancer, but will also help prevent me from getting heart disease or diabetes. That fact is well spelled out in Brian Peskin's book. I consider this book a true treasure in my health library.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Hidden Story of Cancer - Brian Peskin, September 29, 2011

This review is from: Hidden Story of Cancer (Hardcover)
The information in professor Brian Peskin's book is something NEW and, I believe, will prove to be of immense value as it comes to be applied in the arena of health care and nutrition. About 70 years ago a German M.D., Ph.D., Otto Warburg, was awarded the Nobel prize for his discovery of the cause of cancer. His findings have never been disproven and have been scientifically verified inummerable times. His work has been ignored, however, and is virtually unnknown by today's cancer researchers. The reason for this is that no one had known how to practically employ Warburg's findings.

Professor Brian Peskin, an electrical engineering graduate of MIT has resurrected Warburg's meticulous research and by an in-depth, rigorous search of the scientific knowledge that has been brought forth since Warburg's time, has by a synthesizing- integration of this knowledge, brilliantly created a simple, inexpensive, if not curative dietetic regimen to combat the development of cancer. This regimen is also effective in countering heart disease and other maladies that result from sub-optimal cellular respiration.

By researching the world's best texts on physiology, biochemistry and medicine and the world's leading medical journals, such as Lancet and The New England Journal Of Meicine, professor Peskin meticulously documents the scienc-backed basis of the facts he has garnered and from which he has substantiated his conclusions. In essence, he concludes that the worldwide epidemic of cancer, heart disease and obesity that has developed in the last 50 years has resulted from a drastic change in diet from predominantly natural foods to the processed, adulterated, toxin containing foods of today's diet. This has caused critical changes in the fatty membranes that surround each cell in the 100 trillion cells that make up each human body in populations worldwide. The adulterated fats in our current diet tend to displace and substitute for the particular natural polyunsaturated fatty acids that all body cells require for an adequate and efficient respiration of oxygen that serves in turn as the fuel to generate the abundance of energy needed for optimum health.

Readers of professor Peskin's book will be enlightened beyond the expertise of most physicians and that of the "nutrition experts" they have been following. More energy, better health, a diet that slims without generating hunger and, above all, protection from the development of cancer, heart disease, etc., are the promise of the revelations in professor Peskin's book.

Peter Gasperini, M.D.

This was a good read, enough science and support material. Enough references to get a thorough understanding of the subject. Most of his research came from the reference library, and in his words, "He stand on the shoulders" of those before him.
