4.0 out of 5 stars Legacy remains the best of the Star Wars books, July 4, 2009

This review is from: The Hidden Temple (Star Wars: Legacy, Vol. 5) (Paperback)
While other SW books are mired in continuity, unable to tell significant stories, Legacy breaks out over a century after Return of the Jedi with new characters, a new setting and new threats.

In this volume we meet another heir to the Skywalker clan, get a ray of hope for the Jedi and move things forward.

A bit.

Ostrander's writing is as good as ever, he does characters and long-term plotting very well. Duursema does some great aliens and humans.

The only reason I would not give this 5 stars is that it's very similar to the last volume. This is more about introducing new characters and fleshing out some old ones rather than moving the plot forward. While we need issues like this to make readers care about the cast, the story is starting to drag.

But if you're looking for some good Star Wars stories, Legacy is worth your time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Chapter For Legacy!, June 5, 2009

This review is from: The Hidden Temple (Star Wars: Legacy, Vol. 5) (Paperback)
In this book, Cade Skywalker, on the run from the Sith, travels to his uncle's home for safety. While there, he discovers someone has been tracking him... With my brief synopsis out of the way, I would just like to say this is a great new chapter to a great new series. I enjoyed meeting some of Cade's family. I give this book a five-star review!

I never read the original run of the comics version of this series so I was excited to read the graphic novel collection. I have not been dissappointed. Turns, plot twists, and secrets a plenty - just like the movies. Well written, the art is fantastic. A great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Good Stuff, May 19, 2009
This review is from: The Hidden Temple (Star Wars: Legacy, Vol. 5) (Paperback)
If you have been reading the other Star Wars Legacy books, then you know how just how good these books have been. You know that art is gorgeous and the characters are real and engaging. You know it's chalked full of Star Wars goodness without most of the bad stuff (see Episodes 1-3).

If you haven't been reading the series, then might I suggest that you start with Broken (Star Wars: Legacy, Vol. 1) (v. 1). It will introduce you to the setting and characters; and will do it in a way that wont confuse you or require you to have read all of the other Star Wars comics and novels.

It's a good book, but "you don't have to take my word for it."
