"All yours,"  Slade said, leaving the shower running.

Chelsea had a hard time tearing her gaze away from the sight of him standing so close, covered by nothing more than a towel wrapped around his hips. Light from the bedside lamp cast a golden glow over him, turning his bare chest and arms a burnished bronze.

"Want to see more?" He grinned wickedly and reached for the tucked-in corner of the towel.

"Absolutely not," she huffed. She hurried into the bathroom, undressed, and stepped beneath the downpour of hot water. She'd never expected to trudge miles through the bayou with a man she had absolutely nothing in common with and who had the manners of a warthog.

"Not to mention that he let the most exquisite scent bottles in the world get stolen right from under his nose," she observed aloud.

"I did not let them get stolen," Slade said.

"What are you doing in here?"

"Getting another towel. My hair's still wet."

"Fine. Get it and get out!" Chelsea yelled.

"Sure you don't want me to stick around and wash your back?"

Chelsea grabbed the shower curtain and, holding it in front of her, poked her head around its edge. "What I want," she practically snarled, "is for you to at least pretend you're a gentleman and get out of here."

"Gentleman? No fun in that."

Before she knew what was happening, he brushed his lips over hers. . . .
