About the Author

Jenny Hilborne has worked in a variety of fields, including the retail music industry, residential real estate, commercial real estate and finance. She was born in Wiltshire, South West England, and relocated to Southern California in 1997. Madness and Murder is her first novel, a thriller set mostly in San Francisco and the first in the Inspector Mac Jackson series. Her second suspense novel, No Alibi, is also set in San Francisco featuring betrayed spouse, Isabelle Kingsley. Mac Jackson returns in Jenny’s third novel, Hide and Seek, another San Francisco thriller, which takes place over Halloween. Jenny is working on her fourth suspense novel; this one a break from the previous settings and set in Oxfordshire, England. On the rare occasions Jenny is not writing or working, she catches up with family and friends and enjoys reading, travel, and a good movie – usually a mystery.

More About the Author

I'm a British-born author of psychological thrillers and mysteries, including the Jackson series and the Doucette series. My books are set in both San Francisco and England. As a result, much of my time is spent in both places, plotting, researching and writing.

My titles include:

Jackson series: MADNESS AND MURDER (volume #1), HIDE AND SEEK (volume #2), THE BLACKEST NIGHT (volume #3)

Doucette series: NO ALIBI (volume #1), EASY TARGET (volume #2)

Stand alones: STONE COLD.

My background is in real estate and finance which provides much of the inspiration for my stories, as does my love of travel and my experiences as an ex-pat. I've practiced martial arts in the form of Shotokan Karate and hold six belts.

A little secret about me: Unlike the fiends wandering through the text in my novels, I'm afraid of the dark.

This is the second book in the series revolving around Detective Mac Jackson, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. One of the things I love about this series is that Jackson is more of a minor character. We don't get caught up in his ego or personal life, so each story is fresh, with new characters to get to know. Hilborne could write 60 books like this, and a reader could pick up any one of them and immediately connect.

Hide and Seeks' plot is complex, but never confusing. As the story unfolds, little clues are left like breadcrumbs leading us down a path. The characters are well-developed and feel like real people. I was immediately sucked into their world and enjoyed every second of the journey.

This is the third book I've read by Ms. Hilborne and what I really like about her writing is that she can create a particularly unlikeable character and make me care about what happens to them. The victim in this story is not a nice woman when we meet her, and yet I soon want to get justice for her. The puzzle kept me trying to figure out who was the murderer, and I like Mac Jackson. He's a very no-nonsense detective, who is just trying to do his best every day.

I'll read more.

I loved this book and really enjoy Ms. Hilborne's style. I am working backwards now and reading Madness and Murder and it is equally as intriguing! She writes no nonsense stories that keep you engaged and wondering what is going to happen next. The characters in Hide and Seek are interesting and exciting and tied together very well. I thoroughly enjoyed this read!

I couldn't even read to the half-way point of this novel. It started out very interesting but...soon deteriorated into a plodding procedural and not a very good one at that. The writing was okay - the story just never went anywhere. Chapters were written from the POV of new characters, pulling me out of the story. The cops wandered from place to place investigating....not much. The body finally turned up but unfortunately the action didn't increase. I almost gave up with the the main cop started to go to bed at ....nine o'clock in the evening!!!!! What bugged me the most was....we never did find out who was hiding the night of the Halloween party! Too many good books, too little time.

This is the 3rd book I have read from this author and they are only get better. Hide and Seek is the 2nd book in the Mac Jackson murder mystery series. This is a great read with many twist and turns that every time I though I had it figured out I was wrong. It is not like the normal "who done it" and you figure it out right away. It is a must read you wont be dissapointed.

This book has a pretty good story and I did enjoy it, however, there were a lot of characters to get to know.

Once again Hide and Seek kept me coming back and didn't want to put it down even if other things had to be done. A good read on this one two... I will be watching for more books in the Jackson mysteries.
