PreSchool-The large color photos of cuddly Chadwick Cavalier King Charles spaniel pups are the highlight of this book-their expressive faces are sure to captivate dog lovers. However, pictures of the canines as they attempt to play hide-and-seek accompany a disappointing text that falls flat. The sentences are stilted and do not flow smoothly. The layout is appropriate for very young readers; the photos of the puppies are simply and attractively set on all-white backgrounds with minimal text. However, far better dog stories abound.

A cute concept and adorable photos of puppies reveling in their youth is overshadowed by a tepid text. An engaging series of photographs of Chadwick Cavalier King Charles spaniels is accompanied by simple sentences describing their attempts at hide-and-seek. Each page features a few sentences with a corresponding shot of the frolicsome pups. While the text matches the pictures tolerably well, it comes across as quite stilted: `` `We don't want to wake up. We're tired.' `But we're lonely. Please wake up.' '' The photographs of the puppies are joyfully expressive; children will be so beguiled that the lackluster text becomes secondary to their enjoyment of the book, and they will yearn for puppies of their own. I bought this book for my 2 year old niece but could not give it up (I bought her a new one). The pictures of these puppies are unbelievably adorable and so expressive. The text captures the expressions perfectly. I will keep this on my coffee table for everyone to enjoy. My niece related very well to it. She not only enjoyed the photos but was very able to follow the delightful story line.

Incredible photos. My toddler will not put this book down. He calls it his da da book and looks at the pictures every night before bed.
