Cunning, eerie, beautiful, November 13, 2007

Good Grief took us into the dusty western world of James Apollo, and 'Hive shows us that for all that worlds roughness, it's a beautiful place after all. "I've got it Easy" and "Better to Be Born Lucky" rival as some of the most moving songs i've heard in a long time. I've given 'Hive a few listens, and it just keeps growing. While Apollo has been known for his Tom Waits and Morricone style antics in the past, this record goes far beyond vaudevillian imagery and classic americana. Driving on a rainy day, or just staring out the window, this is the soundtrack for a lot of things to come.
