Anything for Parris,
By Luv2Read "imareader2" (Baton Rouge, LA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hideaway (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
"Hideaway", what a great book!! I thoroughly enjoyed the romance, the intrigue, the mystery. Martin Cole was one determined man. He knew who he wanted and went after her. Martin did not stop when first given the cold shoulder by Parris. Luckily for Parris, he did not! Martin was Parris' lifesaver. But to Martin, Parris was his heart, his soul, his everything. Martin was willing to sacrifice whatever was necessary in order to win Parris and her love. Throughout their story, Martin indeed was Parris' backbone. He was there when she needed him.Parris was a cool, intelligent woman who not only captured Martin's heart, but she had his soul as well. Parris was given the blunt end of the deal. Through no fault of hers, she had to suffer the lost of a loved one for many needless years. However, true love can outlast any stumbling blocks as shown by Martin's and Parris'story. "Hideaway" will not leave you bored. In fact, it was a fast read and every page makes you want to learn what happens next. "Hideaway" is the beginning of a new series by Ms. Alers. One I look forward to reading. Well, this is all for this one. I will continue the review in "Hidden Agenda" and "Vows", as well as the others. Thanks, Ms. Alers for some great and exciting reading.

Hidden Secrets,
By
This review is from: Hideaway (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Parris meets the intriguing Martin Cole and overnight her life changes forever. After an abusive first marriage can Parris trust Martin with her heart. When seems to be going great for the couple tragedy darkens their path and Parris is forced to live in secret and withhold a piece of her heart from the man she truly loves. Can Parris and Martin finally be together and who is after Parris? Is it her ex-husband or someone even more threatening. This is the first introduction to the Cole dynasty. Catch a quick peek at two interesting characters Joshua Kirkland and Matthew Sterling. Once you read this you will have to read the rest of the series.

A wonderful story of love conquering all,

This was a wonderful book. I read this book after reading Vows( Joshua Kirkland's story) and Harvest Moon(Regina Cole Spencer's story) and even though I new the basic story it was wonderful to see how the story unfolded. Martin was so in love with Parris that he would do anything for her. Parris was a strong women even with everything that had happened to her. Martin's father Sammy was just evil for putting them through that mess because of his mistakes in life. Martin and Parris were a wonderful couple to read about, even with everything that happened the love that had for each other never waviered. Good Job Ms. Alers!

One Romantic Story,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hideaway (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
The way that Parris and Martin meet is so electrifying because upon meeting one another he saves her life when her ex-husband tries to kill her. He then takes her into his home and takes care of her while she is recovering(he even brings a surgeon to his house to repair her jaw). They end up falling in love and she is forced to leave him just when she finds out that she is pregnant with his child. After years of living without her, he finally decides to look for her and finds out that they have a beautiful little girl together. Rochelle Alers portrays Martin as such a concerned father, he panics when he finds out Regina (their daughter) is sick. After trials and tribulations through their marriage, he finds out that she is pregnant again and hasn't told him about this baby. This is just the first novel in the Hideaway series.

One of the best,

Hideaway is the story of Parris and Martin. They meet back up years later after Parris's ex husband threats pulled them apart. The love affair between Parris and Martin is one you don't want to meet.

Where have I been?,

Ashamed to say I am an african-american female who has read romance novels since middle school and I have never picked up anything in the Arebesque line til recently. Since reading Hideaway I have gone to my local library to get the other 13 books in the series. I'm starting #8 now. I have read reviews about problems with the timeline but it is not enough to make me put down these books. I am so addicted! I think my fave so far is book #3 Vows. Also, I'm loving the Wainwright series as well by Ms. Alers. Must have been living under a rock these last 37 years. I will surely add Arebesque & Kimani books to my list when shopping for novels in the future.

I read this book years ago but wanted to read it again so I re purchased it. It was just as interesting as the the first time I read it. The entire Cole-Diaz series has just been awesome. Keep up the good work, Ms. Rochelle Alers

Could have been better,
This review is from: Hideaway (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Great plot, goofy storyline reasoning. It was just a bit too unrealistic, the plot was plausible, but the way it was put together was just...not in a true to life form. She leaves for ten years because of an ex husband who to me doesn't seem all that powerful though a man who seems more powerful has offered her protection. Instead she runs off for ten years with a child and never says a word??? Then he finds her and she's still mute basically, it was a corny way of stretching out the story and rocking the romance...I'm just going to stop right there, I love Rochelle Alers books, but of this series, Secret Agenda was my favorite, a few of these were just too...not even far fetched, overly corny and dragged out with the irritating main characters who worry about all the wrong things even when their life is in supposed danger, lack of realistic communications, nobody knows how the other person feels until it's almost too late, give me a break. It's overly done and not realistic, I skipped most pages just to get to the poing. It wasn't a really bad book, the plot was good, but the dialogue and the overly stretching it out for no reason was very annoying.
