5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read
This is the second in the series and I really enjoyed how this book was tied to the first. Its characters seem like every day people and how they solved the cases were great. The first time I read the book I read it chapter by chapter on author's website. Now I have a copy of it. Thanks again for another great book in the series. I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice plot - too many unbelievable/unrealistic situations.
The book is ok. I liked the plot and all the surprises the author created. However I felt that in a number of occasions the situations were not credible. I give some examples below:

1 - the girl convinces a partner to join her in abducting old ladies. She uses the fact that he was involved in a hit and run several years ago to force him to help her. Sounded...

I spent the day reading this book during a blizzard. This is the second book in the series. I liked this book even better than the first. I have books 3 and 4 and can't wait to read them.

4.0 out of 5 stars #2 is Better than the First, March 14, 2011

Usually in a series the second book is a disappointment after a decent or better first book. While I enjoyed The Bicycle Shop Murders, Hideaway Hospital Murders is much better. The character of Greg Tenorly is introduced in the first book and the storyline from Bicycle continues on some levels in Hideaway Hospital. You do not have to read Bicycle to enjoy Hideaway Hospital. Some of the plot is a stretch to believe, but overall it is an interesting, good story.

The writer is trying too hard, and this is just not working for him... or for me. I think he needs some friends close to him to tell him to get a proof-reader and an editor. He is just getting more and more bizarre. The characters are not believable.

Sounded like a very weak motive - firstly she didn't have any proof that he was involved, secondly he could tell the police that she was planning to abduct old ladies and that alone would prevent her from doing it.

2 - there is a scene where one of the main characters is strangling the girl's grandmother. The grandmother asks the girl to shoot someone and they start a conversation. The grandmother (while being strangled) and the girl start a conversation about what to do. They went back and forth at least 4 or 5 times. Very unlikely.

3 - the cook has an opportunity to call the police but decides to handle the situation alone and goes down to the basement with his shotgun. I believe most regular folks would call the police after being shot at.

4 - the girl shoots a man outside the house and as she was going to check if he was dead or not, she hears her grandmother calling from the sub-basement (two levels below ground). As the author describes the location of the sub-basement (behind walls, and long corridors) it gives the impression that the sub-basement was way far from the house's living quarters. It sounded very unlikely that anyone could hear someone calling from the sub-basement. That was done only because the author wanted the man who was shot to appear later on to save everybody.

I am still planning to read the third book in the series. I am curious to see how the author will get his main character (Greg Tenorly) involved in yet a new set of murders.

2.0 out of 5 stars Writing too simplistic, plot a bit of a stretch, April 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hideaway Hospital Murders (Greg Tenorly Suspense Series - #2) (Kindle Edition)
Gosh, this was the second book by this author I read and think I should have stopped with the first. That book, The Bicycle Shop Murder, wasn't bad, so I purchased the second in the series. Definitely a step backwards. In some respects, I felt like I was reading a book a child wrote. Just a lot of dialogue and not much else. Very little of what the characters were thinking was included in the storyline, just back and forth dialogue. Typos abound, along with grammatical errors. Words were just plain missing and you had to re-read the sentence and "fill in the blank" to get the point of the sentence. Proofreading seems not to have been done. Case in point: One character in the book was Nancie Jo. Later she was referred to as Nancy Jo. May be considered "minor" by some; I found it annoying. Plot is not very believeable, and moved way too fast. Just too much jumping around and not really a chance to develop the characters. I console myself that I only spent 99 cents for the ebook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ohio reader, October 19, 2007
Once again...I loved it! As in the first book there are twist/turns to keep you reading. Also, I like the new characters that were brought into the novel. I love Greg and Cynthia and the love that is blooming. So not only do you get murder, mystery you get love. What more could you ask for.

This book is my favorite in the series so far (haven't finished Illusion of Luck yet). The story was great and the characters were just delightfully twisted! I loved it! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to finish Illusion!
