5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Ok I love Selah! This group is by far the best. I highly recommend this album. The voices of Todd and Nicol are awesome. The harmony of these two are truly unmatchable(not sure thats a word). This cd is amazing. There is a lot of emotion running through the cd. Hiding Place,I bless your name, deep deep love are so good. You Raise Me Up is also good. I particularly like it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Rip-Off
I absolutely hate this CD. Mainly because they tryed to redo "You Raise Me Up" just because Josh Groban had a huge success with the song they think they can too. They're such a disgrace!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is why I love Christian music, May 5, 2005
This review is from: Hiding Place (Audio CD)
I flip through the radio a lot. Not the type of person to lock and just listen to one specific station. I tend to like modern Country music like K. Urban, as long as there's a cleanness about the music, more though, I listen to Christian music. Some might consider Christian music to be repetitive simply because of the aim toward the songs written. I digress. Selah is one of the reasons why I turn the radio up when I hear the songs on the stations I do listen to. The songs orchestrated in this CD are remarkable, my favorite being All My Praise. Truly a beautiful song. What I love, even more, is that the music and the lyrics blend together to create a true euphoria. It is important to not hinge on one or the other, for me, they have to bind together to create one song...the instrumentation must be active and the lyrics must be meaningful, not just simply "I love you, you love me" kind of lyrics if you get my drift. If you like Selah, you'd like Newsboys and Phillips, Craig, and Dean are two other great groups you'd love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you, Selah, for another inspiring, worshipful album!, May 27, 2004

I have all of Selah's albums, and Hiding Place is just as great as their others. They chose such beautiful songs, and the vocals are truly amazing. "O the Deep Deep Love of Jesus" gives me chills, as does "You Raise Me Up" (Selah's current radio single). If you already love Selah, you won't be disappointed with this album. If you've never heard Selah, PLEASE give them a try!

I love their harmonies! "Before the Throne of God Above" is one of my favorites. By the way, several of these arrangements are available as accompaniment tracks, if you like to sing them yourself! I've already gotten three of them...

5.0 out of 5 stars addressing "RIPOFF", May 29, 2004

This album is great. And regarding the guy who said they ripped off Josh Groban: No, Josh Groban ripped them off. They had already recorded the song. Someone in the industry played it for Josh, and he decided to record it also. His just came out first. When you hear a song on the radio and then another version somewhere else, don't assume you know who cut it first. I believe the same thing happened with "I Swear."
Anyway, the arrangements, songs and singing on this album are terrific and inspiring. One of the best albums of the year, and a definite award-winner. Get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars God is so gracious in anointing people like this to bless us, April 2, 2005
This review is from: Hiding Place (Audio CD)
Ok, what has been said I can only agree with, so I will submit my short sinopsis of the songs themselves.

1) You Raise me up: Great song. The beautiful violin intro was cut when this songs was put onto WOW 2005, but the classical feel of this song is still heard with the stringed isntrument arrangement in the middle. Moving.

2)I need thee every hour/Part the Waters lord: Possibly my favorite song on the album. And not just because I am like the hugest fan of Nicol's voice on planet earth (slight exaggeration), but the combination of songs is just so breathtaking. An old hymn mixed with an Evie standard ? Sign me up for more !!!! A beautiful song to lsiten to when going through a desert or tough time.

3) I bless your name: Tied for the first place with the above. HOW HAS THIS SONG ELUDED US FOR SO LONG ???? SImply amazing. The second verse just speaks directly to my soul and I have used the truth in these songs to fight spiritual battles (which is part of the reason God gave us music:)

4) Esengo: Very fun. Though African, it gives a nive few of the heritage of the main singers who are Missionary kids (GO MK'S!!!)

5): All my Praise: great song. A very meaningful declaration of dependace on God.

6): There's power in the blood: LOVE IT, LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such a great celebration of Christ's freeing power. makes you wanna dance and celebrate for Jesus !!!! Also a great challenge to continue in spiritual renewal !

I have been to 3 Selah concerts and I have every cd they have produced. I am never disappointed with their ministry of music, I have been blessed by their dedication to their missionary roots and every song they sing has their own special interpretation that has brought new awareness of "old" christian songs. Hiding Place has some awesome worship songs and it calls to the heart of our struggles as christians to be closer to God and to listen to His voice. I love their version of You Lift Me Up because you feel that this is from your heart to God's. My very favorite is Bless you name the words are so beautiful and so true. I recommend this cd to anyone who wants to experience what it feels like to speak to God through all the stress and frustration of life and know that He is with us through it all.

I am 18 years old and a devout christian. I lead youth worship at my church, and this is not the kind of cd you would think a contemporary worship leader would like. But Selah's awesome voices, smooth harmonies, and most of all, their passion for God make this CD incredible. I have loved all of their efforts. My favorite on this CD is "All of Me", it just sums up everything we need to do...surrender everything to Jesus. I don't care too much for the African-themed songs, but everyone has their own thing! I would recommend to people of all ages!
