Not a cure for insomnia,
This review is from: The Hiding Place of Thunder (Paperback)
Are you looking for something boring to help put you to sleep? Well folks this book ain't it. It's down home rude and crude. It's hot just like our beloved Oklahoma in the summer. You start out thinking this is just another who-done-it but soon find out you haven't got a clue who the bad guy is and you are riding this out to the end. You are not reading about people you are those people. Your mind is thinking the same things they are. You are in this drama. You sweat when they sweat. Your heart races with theirs. You are Burl Hansen as he drives the woods and hills of Southeastern Oklahoma. I loved this book because it took me back to some old stomping grounds, just as I remember them. Thanks colonel for a great yarn. Lets have some more

I'm not a huge fiction reader. Most fiction I've read comes across to me as superficial and just plain lame. But I have a few favorite authors - Koontz, Cornwell...and Keith Remer! Remer has an extraordinary talent for escorting a reader into the minds and lives of his characters allowing one to "live" the story. His books always leave me waiting for the next one to be published! Please keep them coming!L Geier Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

This review is from: The Hiding Place of Thunder (Kindle Edition)
I started reading Hiding Place of Thunder thinking it was just going to be another half-baked mystery set in my home state, Oklahoma. Boy was I wrong! From the first page to the last, I wasn't reading the book, I was totally immersed in the book. Most mystery novels are really easy to predict and as a result can get very boring. That doesn't happen with "Thunder". I know it's normally a cheesy accolade to say the author "grabs" you, but not in this case. Keith Remer grabs you from the very first page and doesn't let go until you finish the book exhausted from trying to keep up with all the twists and turns and good guys and bad guys. I am throwing out my Koontz and Dan Brown and John Grisham novels to make room on my shelf for all the novels I hope Keith is going to put out.

This book is a page turner and hard to put down. The characters are developed in such a way that you feel like they are your neighbors. Their personal struggles become your own. The author developed an affinity between the reader and the people on the pages. I would advise anyone who likes to read to pick up this book. It has depth and presents much food for thought.

Have some time available before you pick up this book. You won't be able to put it down. The story grabs you at the beginning and draws you into the characters. The scene changes often, but is easy to follow. The mystery deepens and draws you in until your adrenaline is flowing and you cannot wait to find out what happens. Sit back with this book on a rainy afternoon and ENJOY!

What a fun read! Sharp wit and imagination won this page-turner (and future works of this Author) a home in my library. Made me laugh, made me cry and even made me blush a time or two. The charactors are so alive you feel like they're living down the street. It will be awesome to see them alive in the future on the "silver screen"! Such talent will certainly go there. Kudos Keith Remer, kudos to you!

Set in a small town in southeastern Oklahoma. Starts off slow to build the characters and introduce the reader to to them and allows you to get to know them. The plot thickens with suspense wrapped inside a mystery tied up with a conundrum. The characters feel as if you know them and identify with them. I felt like I was actually there, in the story, experiencing the situation alongside the characters. The author drops very subtle hints that tickle your imagination and make you think one way when the story goes another. When Burl's son, Jacob, comes to visit you can feel the suspense build and you konw something dangerous is about to happen. When his fate befalls him you feel literally sick to your stomach. Remer has you on a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN FOR LONG AND FINISEHD READING THIS WONDERFUL TOME IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I am anxiously awaiting his next missive. Mike N.

Being a chronic insomniac I sleep a little, then up for a while. Last night was a little different; woke up at midnight (nothing new there), but didn't get back to bed until 4 a.am. I had to finish this book!! I'm an avid reader, but can usually put the book down for a while.. not this one. "Page turner" is a good description. As a life long Okie, it was very easy to relate to the attitudes, speech, and thoughts of the characters, and Southeastern Oklahoma is really "God's country". OK, Keith, what's next!! Paul Jones, Guthrie, OK P.S. Amazon; PLEASE get this author on Kindle! |
