This is a great addition to any study materials you have for ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. I have been studying the language for years and the sign list is indispensible. It is small enough to fit in your pocket but filled with information. It is easy to find the sign and its meaning. It is well written and organized. It is especially useful in a museum setting where you don't want to carry around a large book(s). Its small size and wealth of information make it a must have.

Having battle-tested this book in Egypt on a number of trips, I can attest to its usefulness. Beginners and specialists alike will find it a handy tool to use both on location in Egypt and also in museums with Egyptian collections. You won't need a backpack for this little book, just simply slide it in your pocket and you are good to go!

A major reference from Bill Petty, President of Museum Tours.

This small (4 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 3/8 inch) Hieroglyphic Sign List was developed to create a handy, yet useful, booklet that can easily be carried in a shirt pocket. It contains over 800 hieroglyphic signs, their transliterations (pronunciations) and translations (definitions), as well as sample usages. Used by professional Egyptologists and amateurs alike, it is an indispensable tool for anyone who wants to get the most out of studying Egyptian Hieroglyphs. Whether your travels take you to Museums or to Egypt itself, you will find this small book to be your ideal companion

This little & very portable book is a good reference book. If you don't already have a basic knowledge of Middle Kingdom hieroglyphs, then it would be more useful as a seconday tool along with a more complete basic book on hieroglyphs.
