Terrific Concert,
By Doked (Long Island, NY, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hifi Buys Amphitheatre: Atlanta Ga 6/25/06 (Audio CD)
This was the first (of four, so far) concerts in this series I downloaded. I got it originally because I'm a longstanding Allmans/Dickey Betts fan (since 1973), and liked the CD with Phil Lesh and Warren Haynes from a few years back. However, while the third set with Dickey and his son is pretty good, the playlist I listen to the most includes Big Boss Man > Peaceful Valley > Jam > Cumberland Blues > Sugaree > Althea > Uncle John's Band > Lovelight (there are other good songs, but these are my favorites). I used to listen to it obsessively, but I after I downloaded a few other concerts it's just part of the regular mix of Phil Lesh concerts I listen to obsessively. What can I say? Joan Osborne has a great voice; John Scofield is terrific; Larry Campbell is outstanding, and the rhythm section, of course, cooks like there's no tomorrow. If you liked the Dead, or you just like great music, buy this music.
