The phenomenon of "liquid" drum and bass is not terribly new, but to those cynics who would dismiss this as another "techno" album, it is anything but. Lincoln Barrett, aka High Contrast, has found a way to mesh sweeping, tranquil melodies and captivating hooks with irresistible high-tempo beats. While the style shares some characteristics with old school club music, its uplifting tones are equally at home in one's headphones as well as the dancefloor. It hits with a freshness and originality that so many electronic acts seem to lack. High Contrast Confidential is a great introduction to the artist's work and offers some wonderful remixes previously unavailable in one collection.
