This is one of my favorite books on black and white photography. It is full of gorgeous photographs! It has step-by-step instructions on several methods to achieve different black and white images (with little or no shades of grey). To create images like these, you will need a darkroom, or have access to one.

Magnificent images! Do realize that this book was written in 1992, before the digital age of photography so the techniques described are for the 'wet' darkroom. However there is no reason why images of this type cannot be produced with digital methods. This book can be difficult to find.
