An Excellent McKaslin Clan Historical Series Book,
By
This review is from: High Country Bride (The McKaslin Clan: Historical Series, Book 2) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Historical #11) (Mass Market Paperback)
As much as Jillian Hart is one of my very, very favorite Steeple Hill Love Inspired Author's I have to admit I loved this book even more than I enjoyed the first one of this historical series. I honestly felt that both Aiden and Joanna's characters were real and enjoyable. After reading all the previous McKaslin Clan books of Jillian's I have to admit I enjoyed the Historical spin on these ... I personally found it fun to go back in time with this family that I have so enjoyed and hate to leave.
If you have loved this family (McKaslin's) or you love historical books, I believe that this is a book that you will find you will enjoy reading from cover to cover.

This story was much more to my liking than "Homespun Bride" was. It had an interesting storyline that kept me from putting it down til it was over.
Aiden, lonely widower (who lost his son, as well), finds a young widow "squatting" on his land. He is impressed by her love for her children and the strength of her character so he invites her to live in his shanty and work for him as his housekeeper. Yes, the story goes pretty much as you'd expect with no big twists, but it was so well done that it doesn't matter. There are people who don't believe that character development is possible in books of this length... well this author proves them wrong. I am a reader who requires a strong connection with the characters I read about and this book fit the bill for me. (I was pleased to see fewer uses of the word "baritone" in this book... though, with 5, there were enough for me to grit my teeth several times!)

Solid time period and the plot was somewhat interesting. I think that Aiden's character was a bit undeveloped as he was constantly back and forth. Overall a good book and a great way to step back in time.

Heartwarming Story,

This review is from: High Country Bride (The McKaslin Clan: Historical Series, Book 2) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Historical #11) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a wonderful heartwarming story of two people who were able to find love. Joanna would do anything for her two kids but there was no money and no home. Aiden was a good christian who helped. My one problem was the fact that Aiden went back and forth about his feelings-either his heart was broken or he thought she was wonderful.
