Some sick punchlines!,
By Jay (rotterdam) - See all my reviews
This review is from: High Exhaulted (Audio CD)
At last Copywrite, a talented MC from Columbus and member of the supergroup the Weatherman drops his first solo-effort. Circulating through the underground for a while on tracks by the Smud Peddlers, Cage and his click Mhz delivered this guy a reputation on dropping ill oneliners and that's what he does on this album. There's too many to mention but "I leave you in the middle of nowhere like the letter H" is just a fly example. Productionwise the album is on point with productions from Mighty Mi, RJD2 and Copywrite himself and guestappearances from Jakki the Motamouth and Camu Tao complete the cipher. Buy this album if you like battleraps from a higher caliber.

One of the hottest underground hop-hop LPs out. RJD2 production and guest spots from Camu Tao, Jakki da motamouth, and Smut Peddlers (Cage and Mr. Eon). Pretty much every beat is ridiculous and the rhymes are so tight you'll be rewinding that sh*t over and over. Columbus has been putting out some of the tightest underground MCs in recent times and copywrite just might me the best.

Who wants to battle?!,
This review is from: High Exhaulted (Audio CD)
This has to be one of the most slept on joints to hit the rap scene this year. Anyone who is down with the underground hip-hop scene will have no doubt heard of Copywrite and his performances on various Eastern Conference recordings and in the true rap supergroup, The Weathermen. Well, the time has come for Copywrite to drop his solo debut, and he does not disappoint. The most important thing to remember when buying this album is what Copywrite does best, and that is spit wicked lyrics in true battle rhyme style. Do not expect some crazy experimental hip-hop or political rap, because you will not find it here. With that in mind, you can truly appreciate that Copywrite is master of his craft, along with the likes of say, Canibus and Chino XL. Coupled with production from some of the illest DJs out there today like RJD2 and Mighty Mi, then you have a classic that will keep you both hitting reverse to hear what he just said again and your head nodding. Do not hesitate about this CD and pick it up today. It will surely become part of your heavy rotation. I guarantee it!

Caint nobody touch Copy,

For starters, I am serious, hardcore underground hip hop fan. I usually prefer the more lyrical, abstract underground artists, more along the lines of Aesop Rock, Cannibal Ox, and Sole.
However I must say this album really impresses me. I wasn't too into at first, Copywrite's delivery and flow were a little too chopy and battle oriented for my taste, not to mention I found the beats mediocre at best, despite RJD2's production. But after about a year with this album in my possession a began to truly enjoy it. When you sit down and really listen to the cleverness and depth of Copywrite's punchlines and disses you begin to appreciate the depth and ability with which he constructs his ryhmes. These aren't just silly battle raps he is using here but rather thought provoking jabs that consistantly make me laugh out loud. His wordplay is impeccable. My only criticism of the ablum is that from top to bottom it is very consistant and there is little variation to the overall theme of the tracks, there mostly just battle raps. Nevertheless the album is very entertaining and worth picking up by anyone who enjoys good underground rap or is looking to free themselves from the garbage that you hear and see on MTV (Yes, Im talking about you Wily'N'Out). "...leave you in the middle of nowhere like the letter H"-copywrite

he's easily the best rapper of EC,

I received my first dosage of Copywrite off the Smut Peddler's "Porn Again" album where he outshined Cage & Eon easily. Copywrite has a lot of great qualities for an MC: he has very good easy-to-follow flow, he has a decent voice, and he is a great lyricist. He excels very well at battling and he'll hit you with a barrage of metaphors and punchlines. The only rapper who he's not better than with punchlines is Chino XL. However, Copy's only flaw is that he is TOO battle oriented. "June" is his ONLY conceptual song....Anyway about 'The High Exhaulted'... Copy hits you with an all out lyrical assault on each track. Even though he is mostly an egotistical battle mc he still shows some versatility with his lyrics & delivery. There's a track where he talks about sex the whole time, there's one track where he speeds up his flow, but probably the best song is the depressing track "June". RJD2 displays his talents and makes a beautiful multi-layered beat with Copywrite spitting depressing rhymes about the hiphop industry and about his father's passing... its a really beautiful song. Just that song alone is worth the purchase... "I'll leave in the middle of 'nowhere' like the letter H" Copy is an ill mc, don't sleep on him!!! I'm Out... Mind Power!!!

One of the best punchline rappers ever....,
This review is from: High Exhaulted (Audio CD)
...But not much else. Seriously if all you look for in an album is totally ill punchlines and hardcore battle raps this will be one of your favourite albums ever. but if you like more variety it is not for you.
Copywrite also has a pretty sick flow, packed with agression and on one song reaches triple-cadance speed combined with a compound rhyme scheme he is no doubt an ill MC, if a bit limited.

I've been a huge fan of everything Copywrite has done, unfortunately his newest album is no where near as great as this. This is an album where literally every single song is just dope. I still respect Copy for what he has done, but I wish he'd go back to this style.

copywrite is quite possibly the illest rapper of all time he is by far the most talented battle cat out right now. this in my opinion is the greatest collection of underground (true) hip hop out. if you are a fan of canibus or old eminem material this is the cd for you. not to mention that the production is amazing.

i guess that one kid thought this was a concert review, it isn't. I've never seen seen Copy live, but I have heard his album and consider it to be one of my favorites. Copywrite is sick with punchlines, and showcases it left and right on high exhaulted. Also in another review someone complained about the beats. I'm not sure why, even though the production is far from flawless, every beat on this release sounds dope to me.
