RELAX!!!,

I have several CD's and audio tapes from Kelly Howell's Brain Synch series. I use them for meditation and sometimes for backgroud ambient music. Some of the CD's in the series sound very similar, but "High Focus" is notably different from the others. It consists of 30 minutes of a single, continuous, low bass tone with a swirling, electronic "wind" noise blowing in the foreground. I know this doesn't sound like much, but the result is very effective. It makes for interesting meditation music, and is helpful background music for studying, working at the computer, or anything which requires high concentration. The CD contains two identical 30-minute tracks. The audio tape has the same 30-minute tack on each side. Along with "Deep Learning," this is one of my favotite enties in the Brain Synch series.

A must have!,

I'm a full time writer who's used High Focus off and on for at least ten years, probably more. It's absolutely wonderful. I put my headphones on and my productivity takes off. I've bought it on tape twice, and now on CD, and I can't recommend it enough. I've written at least ten published novels listening to it (among other music cds).
It gives you that quiet bubble to work in that life usually denies you. Might not work for everyone, but it consistently works for me.

very interesting!,

The whole concept of Kelly Howell's series is based on a lot of research that is very popular in the last few years. I use High Focus whenever I need utmost concentration prior to reading textbooks for medical school and to confirm recall after each session. Users should not be too comfortable (like be in bed) when they use the tapes coz sleep is a close possibility. The rhythm and the music in itself is very soothing and when I come out of each session, I get so much clarity and focus that I am ready to read just about anything!

This is a Beta/Gamma CD -- Very Energizing,
This review is from: High Focus: Activate Lucid Thinking (Brain Sync audios) (Audio CD)
I purchased this in cassette form because I have a type of cassette player that can increase the speed of the play of the tape
My school counselor never understood why I chose to purchase a normal sized tape recorder as opposed to a micro cassette recorder or electronic recorder...well, this tape is the reason why. Most CDs by Howell or other similar artists are almost always set to put u you in Theta* state. Occassionally, you'll come across an alpha* CD..but Beta*? Or even Gamma*? Absolutely unheard of! Seriously, if you are into such CDs, you should know that this type of CD is very rare. As a workaholic who likes to have 25 hours in a day, I totally love this CD in that it is truly energizing without being erratic like a lot of *energizing* music is. *theta = 4-7 hz which is good for meditation, intuition & memory alpha = 6-12 hz which is good for relaxation, visualization & creativity beta = 12 - 40 hz which is good for alertness, concentration & cognition gamma = 40+hz(absolute bliss IMO) which is good for precognition, clarity & perception..and working out delta = .5-3 hz which is good for unconscious insight..and sleeping LOL

As a survivor of a 1990 Traumatic Brain Injury, I sometimes find focus to be quite challenging and exhausting. I know I'm intelligent, but sometimes my lack of focus causes me miss out on some things I might otherwise enjoy. For example, I almost always fall asleep during movies that have complex plots, are very visually stimulating or require a lot of attention to enjoy. (As expected, I barely got through the opening credits of The DaVinci Code before I started sawing logs. But I've since heard others say it was a very complicated movie for many people to follow, so at least it wasn't just me. I also heard that the related movie "Angels & Demons" was just as involved.)
I have been using High Focus: Activate Lucid Thinking (Brain Sync audios) on and off as background noise while driving or working on the computer for a few weeks now. Last night, my boyfriend and I watched "Angels & Demons", and not only was I awake during the whole movie, but I understood about 95% of it. I picked up on details that enabled me to make predictions, pick up on subtle humor and irony, and actually enjoy this complicated movie from beginning to end! I can't prove that listening to this CD was the cause of my aforementioned results. And please don't think I'm suggesting that this CD can "cure" a brain injury. It cannot. But, for me, I think it has made a difference to some extent, and if you are living with the effects of a brain injury or some other type of focus issue, there's nothing to lose by trying this CD. ***Also, for those that play the CD in the car while driving, the hum on the CD may make you think something's wrong with your car, so you may need to briefly turn down the volume for reassurance! I did. :-)

This is a strange CD in that all you do is listen while you are working. Come to think of it, that is what I do with most CDs, but this is different. It really does help you focus all of your attention onto what you are doing in the present moment. Don't listen to it if you want to go to sleep!

I have listed to subliminal or hypnosis types of CD's for one thing or another, for decades being that my mind is very open to this type of programming and learning. I have never listened to the CD instructions when it states that one must wear headphones. The first day that I put on high focus by Kelly Howell my mind felt deeper and vivid in its thinking and I wanted to start writing the first chapter of my book, which I have been putting off but there are no real lasting effects which is why I consider her CD's average but then again, she doesn't make that claim.
I like more radical sounds and brain sync sound waves and this is average for me but I am a subliminal and brain wave junkie-who can go a year without listening to anything and then I go a year, when I have five different brain wave/sync CD's ranging from increasing one's IQ to psychic development. I was going to give this three stars but I give it a four. The biggest benefit from this product is that as I am sitting on my desk top to write this review, I have it in my CD Rom (without any headphones) and already when I bring up visuals in my mind, they are more lucid and 3-demensional. I have already ordered another of her CD's and even pre-ordered one to be released next month, even though I consider how CD's to be mildly effective and not able to make any real brain pattern changes like with some others that I have purchased over the years.

Just has a swooshing sound similar (but by no means identical) to the ocean... with some cricket chirping sounds as well... underlying "brain sync" stuff going on as well, I suppose, nearly inaudible to the conscious brain.
Not much there in terms of anything that really jumps out at you... but I play it at work instead of music because I tend to end up listening very closely to music, which detracts my attention from my work! With this as ambient background noise, I actually am more focused on my work... not supremely focused like the CD claims: I'm not sure I buy the whole "brain sync" garbage, but this CD is good in a very unflattering way: by NOT grabbing your attention, it allows you to focus your attention on whatever else you're doing rather than on the CD. Aside: there's a warning on it that says not to listen prior to bed, which I think is just clever advertising: this does NOT put your brain into some sort of high gear - it ain't like drinking a cup of Highlander Grog. As stated, it's just ambient noise that won't detract your attention from whatever it should be focused on. In that sense this CD is pretty good, but not worth five stars... (even four is a stretch).

This is a very good brain wave massage for me. It's not so much of Kelly Howell's talking, (which I happen to like), but this is the second best thing for how it relaxes me and massages my brain enough for me to relax and go to sleep. thank-you for yet another excellet CD from the Brain Sync audios!
