The photographs in this book will haunt you for a very long time, so be prepared. It's also the quantity that makes it so gripping.Brilliant pictures, yes. Very glamourous; I am sure the girls and their families will love this book. But there are different ways the pictures can be interpreted and that makes it such a good book. There are the names and ages of the girls but they don't match. You have to do a double take: This girl is 6 years old??? Three??? You could also see it as a study on the early age society starts demanding girls to be obsessed with their looks. Look for yourself, and wonder: Should this be allowed? What is this teaching the girls? At the same time you will see beautiful pictures of beautiful girls, too much make up and a lot of fake smiles. Very intriguing and thought provoking. I loved it!

This book proves that a picture is worth a thousand words. Each one made me want to cry. Look at their eyes, so weary, so sad. The photos are brilliant, beautiful portraits that leave viewers to draw their own conclusions. Mine - I wouldn't do this to my dog, let alone my children.

I got this book as a gift for a friend who is a photographer and also a fan of the weird world of pageantry. She loved this book!

This book is for anyone who is entertained by Toddlers and Tiaras, Little Miss Perfect, Living Dolls, and any of the other TV shows that explore (and exploit) the world of children's high-glitz pageants. Would I do this to my daughter - heck no. Do I like watching it and reading about - heck yes! Take it for what it is and you'll be highly entertained. The photography is excellent.

I purchased this book expecting it to be jam packed with interviews, behind the scenes fun facts and an overall introduction to the world of child beauty pageants. Sort of like Toddlers and Tiaras but in book form. Wow, was I disappointed. The book is nothing but glamour shots of young girls. I'm trying to understand what the appeal of the book is? Who would buy this knowing what the content is? I'm embarrassed to have it in my home.

Nice book but mostly just full of pictures and not information on What to expect or how to prepare for a High glitz pageant.

Saw this book while browsing at a Barnes & Noble and was amazed that it was kept right out in the open with all the normal stuff instead of on some pedophile's hard drive somewhere. If you can't see what is wrong with dressing up innocent children to look like wanton sluts then this is the book for you! I weep for a culture that allows, and to some degree celebrates, this sort of thing. The photography is excellent but I am giving the book one star due to the subject matter being so repellent.

I am an Australian who has developed a fascination with the American child Beauty Pageant ring.I ordered this book from Amazon and it arrived within about a week. I LOVE this book. It sits on the table beside my bed and I look at it every night. The photography inside the book is exquisite and every time I look at any image, I see something new. The only way in which the book could have been improved is by having some background information on the children in the images. It is a visual feast and a book, which would suit as a gift for girls aged 8-17. But also for adults alike as it is a captivating and enchanting publication. Thank you Susan Anderson and Co for a spectacular and treasured book. High Glitz: The Extravagant World of Child Pageants |
