High-Grade Foldable Hammock (Black) Folding Hammock with Carrying Bag

This "Foldable Hammock" greatly exceeded my expectations! A link to this was posted on an website that I like as joke for people who want to knock off at work, but it seemed like it would be a good gift for my wife (not because she would slack at work, she owns a small business). We live in a very rural area and like to spend time outside at parks and on Appalachian Trail (which runs a few miles from our house) and we usually make a day of it when we head out. This hammock will make these outings much more relaxing. Here are my observations:

Pros:
+ EASY to Setup; just unfold the fully connected frame, select the height and width settings (making sure they match on all sides), and connect the netting
+ High Quality; this is well made and very strong, we loaded it up with 360lbs (two teen aged kids) and it held fine
+ Comfortable; We range from 5'3" to 5"10" and 165lbs to 240lbs - all of us find it comfortable (see picture in "Customer Images"), but vary in ease of getting in\out of it (the kids are much faster)
+ Foldable; the frame folds to about the size of a foldable chair and fits easily into the included sturdy carrying case, while the netting fits into a pocket on the outside of the case

Cons:
- Strong Chemical Smell; the netting came with a strong smell that has significantly dissipated over time, but it took a few days
- No Instructions; not sure if it was just missed on ours, but there were no instructions included at all. As noted above, setup was so easy we didn't need them but care and safety directions would have been nice to have

Misc:
* The protective plastic on the frame was a pain to remove
* The plastic end caps tend to pop out, making it important to check that you have them before packing up

Overall, this is well made and convenient portable hammock that should last a very long time. I will likely like buy at least one more of these now that we know how good they are.

Reasons to buy:
1. Way Easy- I love that I can put together in 3 minutes the first time w/ no instructions.
2. Comfy- I am a big guy 200+ pounds and it worked for me.
3. Multi-use - I can use it for camping, beach or on my deck at home.

Reasons not to buy:
1. Hate fun
2. Dislike comfort
3. Generally unhappy person who never leaves their house

I really am happy I got this over the other portable hammocks I was considering b/c one was canvas (not breathable) and didn't seem to have the hammock swing I was looking for.

I received my hammock yesterday, so I can only comment on its quality right now, and I do not know how it will age, but so far I am very impressed.

A previous review had stated that this hammock was too short for somebody measuring 5' 8", but I am 5' 9" and heavy-set, and my friend is 6' tall, and both of us were very comfortable in this hammock! (Not at the same time, of course, it being a one-person hammock.) The frame brackets allow for some adjustment to the length and width of the frame. We set it up as large as possible, which makes me wonder if the previous reviewer who found the hammock too small may have just used a closer notch on the brackets and set the frame up to be smaller.

The most difficult part of setting this up for the first time was removing the plastic which came wrapped around the frame, but a pocket knife made short work of that, so even this was really not difficult. Once unwrapped, the frame was so easy to figure out that we put it together intuitively in about one minute.

When packed in its carrying case, it doesn't take up much room, and could easily be set in a corner of a closet somewhere and brought out if company decides to stay the night or if it's needed for a camping trip. In size and shape, it resembles either a very small golf bag or a very elongated tent bag, with carrying straps in the middle of its length. Even once it is set up, it takes up remarkably little space. If space is an issue in the tent we intend to use it in, we could store baggage under the ends of the frame and the hammock would still swing freely.

Speaking of swinging, this hammock swings back and forth very easily! A small nudge will keep it gently moving side to side for some time, and we both found it very relaxing. It was so comfortable that my friend immediately offered to buy it off of me and was considering using it to replace his bed! The way it hugs your body feels snug but has plenty of give, and adjusts to just about any position you can twist yourself into. You would have to work pretty hard at it to fall out of this hammock, so even if you twist around in your sleep it remains very comfortable.

Overall, I am very pleased with this item so far.

We bought this for outside but, since it's not the season we set it up in my 14 year old son's room. Since then he has been sleeping on it and doesn't want to use his bed now. He said that he is comfortable all night and doesn't wake up. This is great because usually he wakes up a couple times a night (even on meds from doc). I wish I would have tried this a long time ago. We have only had it for a week but, if things keep going like this I will just buy another one for outside. From a mother who has struggled to help her child overcome his sleeping issues, I am "VERY" satisfied!!!!!!!!! I know their are other parents with children who have sleep issues. I resisted medicine for years and finally had to give in but, maybe this will be the solution....

As for the size... it's bigger than I thought it would be, our 16 year old son is 6ft and still fit so.... You can adjust size which also is a ++++!

So buy one for youself and see what I mean!

This portable hammock is not a well know name brand and it was buried in the product selection pages. However, there were so many complaints about the "name brand" hammock that I wanted to try this one. It is also a couple of pounds lighter. It has turned out to really be a quality product. Easy to assemble and breakdown. Good steel quality and sturdy. The mesh net sling is strong but does 'cocoon' you a little bit. The ball bearing hook allows for true swinging rather than just pivoting from a single spot. I'd say it's a keeper!!

This is a great value and a great idea. It's 20lbs, so it's light enough to carry to the beach but I wouldn't go hiking with it. I wish the bag was a little bit bigger so I wouldn't have to be so precise when I put it away but I love the extra pocket. I keep a small blanket in there. It's very easy to assemble but all the plastic covers that cover the end of the pipes all popped off. Not a big deal since it's stored in a bag. I keep it in my trunk and use it on my lunch hour and every chance I get.

When I received this hammock the actual hammock part was broken. To get a new one, I had to ship the entire package back. The company could not just send a replacement net and have me send the broken one back. I also ordered the black one and they sent me green. The first time I set the frame up and used it, I really enjoyed it. It works great for those needing a hammock that can be put away easily. When I was finished, I was unfolding my hammock and noticed paint had chipped off. I investigated and it was not because somehting was rubbing on it. The metal that the paint exposed is rusted. The second time I used it, more paint chipped off. Now I am wondering how long this product will last before it rusts about and all the paint comes off. If it did not have a chipped rusted frame, I would have given it 5 stars because it is convienent.

I bought two of these hammocks for my parents who live in the Keys so they can keep them in their car and just pop them up. Ordered a yellow and a blue one. The yellow one arrived, no problems. My mom loves it. Great for her and her needs. The blue one had a broken frame. No problems exchanging it, new one arrived. That one was also broken in almost the same place. My mom loves hers so my dad just wants one for him, unbroken. Returned the second one and just ordered the third. This time I'm going with a differnet color. Hoping the third one actually arrives with no problems. My mom says that she loves the one I bought her, enough to keep sending the broken one back. She said its perfect weight and she has no issues taking it with her on the boat and setting it up on one of the islands. So if I can just get my dad one that does not arrive broken, I would have rated this as a 5.

I tested this product in my living room the day it arrived. I was able to set it up within 30-40 minutes without the aid of the instructions. Most of that time was spent separating packaging materials from end product and picking out the last few corners of plastic from metal joints. There are 3 or 4 tension settings that should suit most users. I chose the maximum tension to minimize the sag. The tough, rigid end pieces - standard components of most high-quality hammocks - keep the webbing spread evenly and prevent it from engulfing you like a pod about a string of peas. Now that it's unpacked and ready to go in its carrying case, I would not expect it to take more than 5 minutes to deploy. I can't yet speak for durability but it certainly looks and feels like it should last through many uses, and the nylon webbing should help to maximize the shelf life.

Very relaxing. The material used for the hammock contained a strong smell, but a few days of leaving it outside solve this issue. I found this to be the best hammock at this price range.
