Book Description

New York Times, USA Today, and #1 Kindle Bestselling series!

High crime meets high fashion in this boxed set of three award winning High Heels Mystery novels featuring fashion designer turned amateur sleuth, Maddie Springer, including:

L.A. shoe designer, Maddie Springer, lives her life by three rules: Fashion. Fashion. Fashion. But when she stumbles upon the work of a brutal killer, her life takes an unexpected turn from Manolos to murder.

Maddie straps on her stilettos and, along with her trigger-happy best friend, makes tracks for Sin City in search of her MIA dad.
Maddie finds not only her dad, but also a handful of aging drag queens, an organized crime ring smuggling fake Prada pumps, and one relentless killer. Plus, it seems the LAPD's sexiest cop is doing a little Vegas moonlighting of his own. In a town where odds are everything, Maddie bets it all on her ability to out-step a vicious murderer.

Secret affairs, hunky gardeners, and housewives desperate enough to bare it all... welcome to Magnolia Lane, TV's hottest new prime time show... where a rising young starlet is found dead on the show's set. Now it's up to Maddie to sift through a leading lady with a secret, an actor on the verge of a nervous breakdown, a sexy cyber scandal, and one tabloid reporter who'll stop at nothing to get the story of the century. Not to mention Maddie's hot-cold relationship with the case's familiar lead detective, Jack Ramirez. In a world where secrets, lies, and deception can earn you an Oscar, Maddie plays the role of a lifetime to catch Hollywood's hottest killer. But if she doesn't watch her step, Maddie's fifteen minutes of fame just may be her last.

- Chicago Tribune

"Stylish... nonstop action...guaranteed to keep chick lit and mystery fans happy!"
- Publishers’ Weekly, starred review

"Maddie Springer is like a cross between Paris Hilton and Stephanie Plum, only better. The dialogue is snappy and the suspense beautifully interwoven with Ms. Halliday’s unique humor. This is one HIGH HEEL you’ll want to try on again and again "
- Romance Junkies

"It's rare to find a romantic mystery that's so funny, but this is certainly one of them. Maddie Springer (is) a ‘Versace’ Nancy Drew everyone can appreciate."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great beach/summer/commuting reading June 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got the first book in this series as a free download which I loved and prompted me to buy the series. I am now done with the second book, Killer in High Heels. Love the stories. Maddie is a great charachter. Funny, flighty entertaining to read. Suspend any realism and just enjoy the fun and crazy antics. The tension between Maddie and Ramirez is incredible and I am picturing Ramirez in my mind. I can easily see these being made into a movie but would probably be butchered the way they did with the Shopaholic movie. Great book, mediocre movie.

These remind me of either the Shopaholic series or a Marian Keyes style book. I cant wait to start the next one and will be buying volume 2 when I am done with these. The worst part about the book is I dont want it to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really fun reads! August 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I typically read mysteries, thrillers, legal/hard boiled detective novels but whenever I need a break I come to Amazon and look for what I call "fluff books." Meaning the stories are sweet, light, easy to read and don't give you any major moral issues or serious national disasters to consider. The High Heels mysteries are exactly what I was looking for and I read the whole boxed set during my beach vacation this year. Cute characters with funny personalities and endings that tend to be tied with a bow are what you will find. Don't go looking for Jane Eyre or Crime and Punishment, read these books with the knowledge that they are good fun, not taxing on the mind!

The High Heels Mysteries boxed set is a fun & fast read. Likable characters, humor & mystery in a nice blend. You can get details from other reviewers, from me you'll just get that I enjoyed all three books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmmm! September 16, 2012

If you don't mind paying for books that contain spelling, grammar & punctuation errors - read these books.
If you don't mind reading Janet Evanovich "knock offs" (Janet used to do it much better.) Read these books.
If you think you're losing the will to live and need TOTAL distraction by a bimbo character who never grows or evolves or learns by her mistakes - read these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't want to put them down! July 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In the first three installments of the High Heels Mysteries we meet "Maddie" Springer, shoe designer for the fashionable tot, who is "late" with a capitol L, who's "boyfriend" of five months has skipped town, and who has just met the sexiest homicide detective EVER!

These laugh-out-loud adventures keep you turning pages as Maddie tries to solve the mysteries of her missing boyfriend, her AWOL father, and a homicidal soundstage stalker, all while trying the patience of the sexy Detective Ramirez, who can't decide whether to kiss her, or rip her arm off and beat her with it!

The sexual tension alone is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Well done, Gemma Halliday..............WELL DONE!

2.0 out of 5 stars Flighty December 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The first book was OK, but the continued absurdly poor choices the female lead makes -- this is not a smart and feisty lead, but a flaky and impetuous one. And the superhot alpha male, well, he's not exactly the brightest bulb either. The writing is nearly as flighty at the lead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but way too unrealistic December 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The main character is too ditzy for words, and rushes into danger far too often. Other than that, they were a fun read.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit fluffy........ November 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
and a bit too girlie and a bit too much emphasis on sex but a fast easy read if you don't want to think too much about the plot. It would seem to be written for a young teenager if it weren't for the constant sexual references. Scatterbrained doesn't even come close.
