BEST HUT BOOK EVER WRITTEN!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: High Huts of the White Mountains, 2nd: Nature Walks, Natural History, and Day Hikes around the AMC's Mountain Hostels (Paperback)
My dad and I love to go to AMC huts and this book is my bible. I read it all the time, and bring i t with me when going to huts. Just be warned, if you are hiking on the gulfside trail from Madison Springs Hut to Lakes of the Clouds hut, the book says 4.5 hours. WRONG. The correct time is 9.5 hours.

Best Lightweight and Helpful Book to Take to the AMC Huts,
By
This review is from: High Huts of the White Mountains, 2nd: Nature Walks, Natural History, and Day Hikes around the AMC's Mountain Hostels (Paperback)
This is the book I carry up to the huts--used more frequently than even the White Mountain Guide. It's light, has the trail info I need, as well as a nice history/ecological/geological writeup for each hut, including a self-guided nature walk around each hut.

Overview of the AMC High Huts,

This review is from: High Huts of the White Mountains, 2nd: Nature Walks, Natural History, and Day Hikes around the AMC's Mountain Hostels (Paperback)
This book gives a good overview of the AMC high huts in the white mountains.
The author spends a lot of time on the geology of each hut area, which is interesting but, not really what I was most interested about. I would like to have had more info on the history and stories about the huts themselves. It does give a decent overview of all of them, and gives a good understanding of the overall layout of the huts and so forth. I would recommend this book if you are looking to learn about the huts and especially the geology and flora of the area.. A similar book to recommend on the history of Mt Washington was "Not without Peril" which gave the lroe and history of hiking on the mountain from the first days
