This book has good information on navigating chance in the church. While I did not appreciate some illustrations, the points behind them were still valid. I recommend this book, especially to those who did not realize how much "leadership" would be a part of ministry.

Outstanding! That's the word I would use to describe Tim Addington's book, High Impact Church Boards. He deals with the issues of governance in such a clear and comprensive way. His counsel is very helpful. I highly recommend the book.

We are currently working on reviewing our by-laws. The Chapter "Structure Matters" in this work has proven invaluable. His thoughts on how to govern help unleash people for ministry, while remaining congregational in polity. The final three chapters on Empowered Leaders are a must read for any pastor and board who are working on their communication with the congregation and one another. Throughout the book he had many helpful thoughts on intentional leadership in the church and how true leaders need to develop and focus their energies. This is a must book for any church that is seeking to grow and develop as a functioning congregation and have more effective leadership in their church. Don't work on your by-laws without consulting this book.

I am about half way through this book and I have to admit, I've been surprised by this book. The title made me think it would about Roberts Rules of Order and how the meetings of boards are run. I've been surprised to see some refreshing insight into the heart and character of a leader. I found myself thinking through my own relationship with God and how that applies to leadership. TJ has tapped into something that is often missing in books on this subject: the character and practices of the leaders on the teams! You can see his experience pouring out through these pages. I recommend it and I'm looking forward to reading the second half of the book.
