I have been a High-jump coach for five years and a high-jumper for twenty-five years. I never learned the Fosbury "Flop" in high school because we had a sand pit. As an alternative to the straddle style that my team mates used, I learned to scissors jump and continued with that style until I had the opportunity to coach at a local high school and I knew that EVERYONE does the "flop" now and i was going to have to teach and coach it. After reviewing Mr. Stones tape, I was able to successfully execute the "flop" after following the steps he lays out and demonstrates in the video. The method is so easy that I am able to duplicate the techniques and teach most athletes how to "flop" in one coaching session. I have been known to take an athlete before a meet and teach them (coaches have to recruit athletes for the high jump from other sports) successfully. This is the kind of video all coaches must have in their video library.
