Book Description

January 2005
High-Level Resumes is the resource every manager, professional, and executive needs. Competition for higher-level positions in companies and organizations throughout the world continues to increase. The more you earn and the more experienced you are, the more you need the help of High-Level Resumes to stand out from the crowd of your peers. High-Level Resumes provides practical guidelines and a step-by-step process for telling your unique work story effectively and efficiently, such as: * Bringing your resume to the attention of hiring authorities. * Showcasing your relevant in-depth and extensive work background. * Demonstrating you have the right qualities for the job. * Illustrating how you can benefit the organization. * Increasing your chances to make the first cut. The longer you've worked and the higher you've climbed, the more difficult it is to summarize your varied experiences and highlight specific skills pertinent to a single job. High-Level Resumes will show you how to select the skills, strengths, and competencies that will make you tower over your competitors.

1.0 out of 5 stars I had a few problems with this book, March 23, 2007
This review is from: High-Level Resumes: High-Powered Tactics for High-Earning Professionals (Paperback)
I'm a professional resume writer; I purchased this book among others as a resource. I was disappointed for three main reasons: 1) most of the resumes were written in very traditional formats; nothing clever or innovative 2) the same style seems to be used over and over...each one looks like a template 3) my biggest complaint is the lack of a resume index. There are 37 resume examples but no where in this book can you find out which page relates to healthcare, IT or manufacturing. Therefore, you have to flip through every single resume to find the industry or position you are seeking. Not user-friendly at all! I finally took the time to categorize each resume myself, print out my own index and tape it inside the book cover. However, I haven't really even used this book as a reference...I really don't recommend this one at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Craft Your Story, December 12, 2009

Tom K. (Carmel, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: High-Level Resumes: High-Powered Tactics for High-Earning Professionals (Paperback)
This book emphasizes the need to determine exactly what image and story will connect you with your target job. It provides current, relevant, well-formatted examples for executives. The work-sheets and steps are adequate, but not overly insightful. This is a book that is worth browsing from the library to find examples that resonate. Reading the rationale for the story approach is worthwhile. You'll want to find another book to walk you through the details of resume construction as a complement to this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Same Stuff, Different Packaging, August 7, 2005
This review is from: High-Level Resumes: High-Powered Tactics for High-Earning Professionals (Paperback)
There are a great many innovative books out there on resume writing; this is not one of them. At this point, the only new approach to resume writing would be to make yourself a hologram of you speaking your resume--the formats in this book are just like everything else out there on the market. If you've looked at other books on resumes, you won't need this one. If you're new to the wonderful world of the working, you can purchase this and see what the latest standards are. Or you could search the web and save your money.
