HIGH NOON (CD)Dimitri Tiomkin The score, by Russian composer Dimitri Tiomkin, has long been a favorite of film fans. "Do Not Forsake Me" was sung on the soundtrack by Tex Ritter and won an Academy Award, in addition to the thematic underscore. HIGH NOON starred Gary Cooper, Grace Kelly, Katy Juardo, Thomas Mitchell and Lloyd Bridges and directed by Fred Zinnemann. The haunting vocal by Tex Ritter was recorded by dozens of artists but the original film version has never been released on record. This High Noon soundtrack is outstanding. My favorite part is track #4 when Marchall Kane and his new bride, Amy, start to ride out of town, but decide to return. It is energetic and keeps playing in my head after I've finally stopped replaying it on the the CD player. The entire CD is great. It is wonderful how many variations on on simple and memorable song, Mr. Tiomkin was able to come up with for his score.

Besides putting the wonderful music for this great western in a CD package, the liner notes finally explained the weird percussion effect backing the opening titles track.
