5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of the Best
High octane Cult = Pure rock n roll. A collection of their greatest singles and album tracks, charting the rise and tragic fall of one of the greatest English rock bands of the 80's. All your favorite tracks are here and more. Finished off with the added bonus of 2 tracks never before issued (Listen to them and wonder how could they leave them off 'The Cult' album)...

1.0 out of 5 stars please don't judge the cult off this piece
I have all The Cult has to offer. Thought I would buy this to show my friend who The Cult are. NO WAY. If you have to own a "best of", do Lovers, Rockers... This cd has two horrible fillers and does not flow anywhere. I'm embarrassed. I have a Cult shrine and this will not be joining it. I dig every song on every cd I own. Can't abide fillers, especially two this bad. I...

Will Billy and Ian ever pass the standard of the Cult? Who knows?

5.0 out of 5 stars Good News and Great News., October 24, 1999
This review is from: High Octane Cult (Audio CD)
I first discovered the Cult when I watched the film Less Than Zero. I was so moved by Lil Devil, that I waited for the credits and went out and found this disk. For those of you who haven't bought it yet, I have good news. Your CD collection is still a work in progress. It's not too late to own what is going to be your one of your favorite cds. The Great news is once you discover them, perhaps again, you can see them in concert. They have REUNITED. I saw them in Fort Lauderdale and it was one of the best concerts I've seen. Do yourself this favor, rock out to the Cult. They are art.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you get only one Cult album, ..., March 29, 2006

this is the one you want. Just about every song is very good or great. One of the most underrated bands in history. Listening to this collection will make you scratch your head and wonder these guys aren't world famous yet crap like Puddle of Mudd, Nickelback and Limp Bizkit has gotten major airplay over the years.
My only quibble would be that they edit out the Indian chant intro to "Wild Hearted Son" and they fade out of "Heart of Soul" a little bit quicker than on the underrated '91 album "Ceremony."

4.0 out of 5 stars This album rocks pretty hard, January 8, 2003

I wasn't a "Cult fan" - I just liked a couple Cult tunes I heard on the radio. Man, these guys jam. What this means is that I wouldn't be a big fan of their "Love" album style, but I love their "Sonic Temple" and "Electric" style. Which is not to say that I don't like the hits here from "Love", but that's the point of "best of" collections, no? Well, you could buy the 3 albums listed above and listen through the songs you don't like, but even then you'd be missing the first cut on this CD - "In The Clouds" - which wasn't released on album, and is in fact one of the hardest rockin' Cult tunes, and probably my favorite song. Put it on, turn it up, and drive on.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Time makes it better., June 23, 2001
This review is from: High Octane Cult (Audio CD)
I bought this CD two years ago cause I wanted the song "Firewoman". Then the rest of the songs grew on me. after two years of playing the songs on this CD, I have come to think of The Cult of a band I should have been listening to for years. I am now a Cult fan for life.

She Sells Sanctuary is one of the greatest tracks ever written. Love Removal Machine is the second best track that has ever been written. An extremely excellent CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars my first cult cd, October 4, 1999

This review is from: High Octane Cult (Audio CD)
i just got into the cult, and god i wish i had known about them years ago cause they are one awsome band! never have i bought a cd where i can play it all the way through and not skip any. these guys have real talent unlike many bands out there today. since i loved this cd so much i went out and got all their other cd's and now i'm totally spoiled! so many songs to choose from and ALL are great! i think these guys are going to be around for along time. even though i like the dark-gothy type stuff like spiritwalker, she sells sanctuary.. i ive really come to like those cool rock songs: love removal machine, wildflower, heart of soul, and the best on the whole cd is none other than FIRE WOMAN! anyone check out that video before? it rocks!

4.0 out of 5 stars This band helped fuel a hard rock revival in1987 ..., May 31, 1999

This review is from: High Octane Cult (Audio CD)
The bare bones guitar riff and slugfest drum beat of 'Wildflower' will make you want to stand up and scream 'rock and rollllll!'. This tune will really bring out the animal nature in you, as will 'Fire Woman', another riff-laden tour de force. The Cult were a breath of fresh air on the heavy rock scene in the late '80's, a time when too many bands paid more attention to their androgynous images and not enough to the substance of the music. This is substance, friends. Too bad real rock like this is dead ..... .

5.0 out of 5 stars This is music at it's best!, July 17, 1998
By A Customer

Too bad this group had to break up, because they have created some great music over the years. This album personifies the diversity and creativity of The Cult. Pure Octane reveals an evolution from gothic beginnings to a polished, techno-sound that the Cult would be ridiculed for later on. If you like music, you will like this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "must-own", February 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: High Octane Cult (Audio CD)
This is one of those essential albums, on the same level as Led Zeppelin IV and Sabbath's Paranoid. You get 18 classic cult tracks (including 2 unrelease songs), and they're all amazing. The Cult's sound is different than anything out there, and they cross over so many different styles...it's spectacular. "In the Clouds", one of the 2 new songs, is the hardest I've ever heard from them, and it's great. A few of the tracks are cut short, though, but that's just another great reason to go buy the full albums. Sonic Temple, Ceremony, and "The Cult" are my favorites.
