For some reason I couldn't resist this book despite not having any real need for it or its contents. I guess I was fascinated by its single-mindedness.
Given the rather dry topic it deals with it's surprisingly readable and enjoyable, and the chapter about rivets was quite an eye-opener for me. But I must admit that I leafed through the sometimes seemingly endless pages of bolt classifications very quickly...
It highlights many intricate details used and needed in precision and high-performance engineering.
On thing I missed was dimensions in millimeters, or at least an easily accessible translation chart.
There was also one manufacturer that got mentioned much more often than others. Maybe it's because they're the most common one, or its because the author's preferences. It does taint the aura of impartial handbook a bit though.
